As if everything else going on right now weren't enough...guess what our omniscient, monolithic, bloated, fascist IT bureaucracy has in store for all of you worthless automatons who can't be trusted to do your jobs without their Proper and Total oversight? (even though they don't have the slightest f---ing clue what goes on in the real world to get hydrocarbons out of the ground in order to pay their utterly f---ing unnecessary salaries)
Big Brother "ve vill vatch your every move, schveine!" spyware called, so laughably, "Digital Guardian" is coming your way. It was forced, unannounced, on IT personnel this week, and will be coming very soon to a PC near & dear to you.
Words to the wise...this Orwellian monstrosity will be promoted as a means of preventing the malicious "escape" of mission-critical, proprietary data out of the company. Since there are, in reality, very few still in our ranks with the ability, ilk or inclination to engage in meaningful industrial espionage at this point (mainly because COPC is nowhere near the bleeding edge of E&P technology, and not likely to return there before stupidity-induced disintegration occurs), this isn't really what you should be concerned about. In all fairness, the locking-down of data is most definitely one of DG's capabilities...but, watch the birdie...be very aware that DG can log every keystroke, every mouse click you make. Every program you launch, every website you visit. Every copy-paste you make. Every file you copy to a folder or attach to an email...every virtual action you take will very soon be recorded for review by steering committees and talent management teams to determine if you should be included in one of the many, inevitable, upcoming purges post Sept 2016.
Seriously? Yes, f---ing seriously. We're billions of dollars in the red lately, and some stratospheric (and unnecessary) bureaucrat decided that it would be a fabulous idea to spend vast sums of money (which we have to borrow at this point) on bullshit like this...
Yes, really...
