Facebook is looking at wireless too. But not in a conventional way. At some point, I think data will blanket the planet using new technology not yet developed.

You can now thank Ivan Seidenberg for his vision. Former long time AT&T CEO Edward Whitacre, Jr. said at his retirement party in 2008 "Who ever builds the best fiber network wins"
Verizon has the best part of the country locked up with their fiber. New York, Boston, Philly, Washington DC. Google was picking up the scraps in rural areas and running miles of fiber for three customers. Verizon has nothing but packed high rises and tight city neighborhoods. Mass people on just one mile of fiber.
And for all you wireless is the best and future......Nothing will beat fibers reliability, security and speed.
