Thread regarding AT&T Inc. layoffs

Indirect Phase-out

Does anyone else in indirect feel we are training ourselves out of a job? Deposit waivers going away in September, *AID receiving further enhancements, IMO management moving to being handled by dealer, bill credits handled by dealer, NR is just a "box to check". I'm also interested to see what will happen to those of us who just saw our pay mix change when the new overtime rules kick in later on this year in December. Will they knock us all to hourly and screw our retailers over because we can't answer our phones and assist at all hours?

I haven't really seen too much of the processes they talked about and put in place really work. I still do deposit waivers, escalate issues and manage IMO. *AID is only helpful maybe 40% of the time and they refer back to AE consistently. I have almost 4 times the work load and commission is lower than it's been in 5 years. My pay is managed to the penny and several years I have gone backwards in pay. Almost embarrassing for working for such a large company. Either way, its pretty pitiful that no one will at least be honest and let people know what's going on.

i'm trying to get out but it seems hopeless looking inside the company. Will it get better or will the cuts continue. I really think they are going to eliminate this channel all together. it does seem like this because our jobs are not really contributing much anymore. Very sad!

NR is, and always has been, a joke. Ever tried to get promoted of of NR? Exactly! They will transition NR to a 3rd party for $10 and hour and cut RAE's way back. Welcome to AT&T, the peepin round corner culture to see who's getting canned next.

I'm aggressively looking for a way out, the writing is on the wall and all my best work friends are gone in the May layoffs. My job feels like sh--, new team s---s. Good luck to all stuck in this mess.

Because they can, this company does not look at way how to make money , rather how to spend it

I don't even thing RAEs should report to an ARSM. Most of the so-called "high level" stuff they talk about is given to us anyway. If a Director (level 3) can report to a VPGM (level 5), then why can't an RAE skip level report to a level three? Boom, someone who makes what two RAEs make combined is eliminated. This isn't a knock on my ARSM...they're great. But why eliminate us when we supposedly generate an average of $9,000,000 per year?

Let's get rid of lazy managers for a change, say 30%-generous estimate, the company would be pleasantly surprise how smoooooooooth thing would run

My ARSM said to stop reading this board and everything is fine. Have not had a ride along in months and am concerned they know what is going on but are not telling us.

In my area they are currently adding headcount. Not sure if they are just being shortsighted again. Att retail already made changes to address the Dec. Law change but nothing for us. I wouldnt be surprised to see another layoff and have been preparing for that since the last one.

The writing is on the wall after the large surplus we just had. Now it's almost like we are just going through the motions. With all this automation be sure they have already begun the process of eliminating most of these positions.
