There was a lot of activity early this morning at Dallas HQ supposedly between our leadership team and Frontier regarding the sale of California wireline assets. Not sure which areas are being looked at. Will post more if I hear specifics.

People in some SoCal areas are getting a note in there billing that in September that there data service may be carried by Frontier if FCC approved
None of the work ATT people do in Connecticut is for work in Connecticut.
Vp level has told people they will be offered work in Texas.
Nice a short daily commute. The OCATS ( management )group is doing craft work on cell systems and not a peep from the union.
Connecticut is down to 187 ATT people and the 2300 people "sold" to Frontier is now down to 1250.
Using the term "right sizing workforce" to make it ok. the union is useless and has not said a word.
word here is the remaining ATT people will be gone by 3rd quarter.
Sadly many keep their head in the sand thinking it will not be them until they are hit.
The main building in New Haven has a parking lot they holds 500 cars for the people who work in the building across the street. Surprise, Frontier sold the lot to a developer 3 months ago and told people plenty of parking is available in town for a low parking cost.

In a 2013 letter to shareholders, he said that AT&T is "putting software rather than hardware at the heart of our network infrastructure," and that "we've committed to upgrading all of our customers to new technology by 2020."
In recent days, I spoke with several AT&T technicians, each of whom asked to remain anonymous to avoid reprisals. They said supervisors statewide are alerting workers that the company's traditional copper-wire network and central switching offices will start being phased out beginning in 2018.
They're also saying that one scenario being discussed among AT&T insiders is for Frontier to acquire AT&T's California landline phone network, just as it did April 1 with Verizon's system.
Wake up!! ATT like Verizon is dumping all wireline services including video. What will it take to have people realize the direction of the company. Connecticut was just the first. Connecticut people numbered 4850 before the sale. frontier picked up 2300 Leaving the remainder with ATT. As of June 2016 there were 620 ATT people left in Connecticut. Anybody see a pattern? They quietly laid off just under 2000 people.
ATT has approached other states public utility commissions with the purpose of removing the dominate carrier status. this will allow them to sell the company. Take a guess who the dominate carrier WAS in Texas...Not ATT it was Verizon. Frontier picked up Florida, Texas Nevada and California in the Verizon deal. Picking up ATT holding will allow the to have a large area. The FCC has stated they will not block them from acquiring other states as long as they do not try to go into wireless.
Why do you think ATT picked up DTV? yep wireless.
So again wake up and smell the coffee. It's only a matter of time.

So it may cost a lot to do business In California, but I am sure it's very profitable in the long run. I would also add that it takes a lot to manage a business of this size and I don't think they have the ability to do this. If you could manage the work, the employees, keep the customers happy and keep up with your competition you could do it. But it's clear they are clueless these days.
If it is so hard to do business there, why would someone want to buy it?
AT&T plans to sell off all California wireline and get out of California.... just cost too much to run here. They will dump Uverse, push Directv, and dump unions
Does sort of make sense. Didn't vz "recently" sell CA to Frontier (deal closed late last year)???
ATT seems to be blindly following everything VZ is doing or Randy has a new mentor. T chased after V on the yahoo deal too.
This rumor has persisted for years despite any logical evidence. Maybe it's true this time but I doubt it. I'll believe it when I see it.

I have been hearing rumors like this for a couple years now. Any idea when this might happen? I notice the t stock is doing well lately, do you think this has any relation?
