Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Came back to check my favorite layoff site and lo and behold it's still filled with posts from union crybabies

How do these people survive in the world? Oh, that's right, they have union jobs so they don't need to be productive members of society. No offense to the 75-80% of union folks who are hard working and well deserving of whatever they can get the company to pay them. How do you put up with all the whining losers among you? Here we just RIF ours. Life much better without them. I've found that the good ones always find a way to stay on here at the company. The bad ones end up at other companies. Thankfully.

@INfdel-dreg that is not true. Most of the people I know from the December rif who were over 50 are NOT working.

People can't read or are surrounded by those who needed to be riffed. Nearly every one of the people I saw riffed who were of the older, long-service persuasion who were actually worth their salt did manage to find another spot at the company after they were riffed. On the other hand, nearly all of those who didn't measure up who were riffed stayed riffed and are gone. I knew some of them and know that many have found jobs at other companies or opted to find something temporarily until they could start getting their retirement. I know others a few years away from retirement who found other jobs here at Verizon. I'm not aware of any conspiracy against us older folks. I haven't seen it. Should I get riffed I'll take my money and go add value somewhere else. Life goes on. I hear even some screwoffs who got riffed have found good jobs elsewhere.

@1oqm...I respectfully disagree. They are RIFing ANYBODY over 45-50 and at or near top of pay scale. If you are in IT nothing matters, your job is going to India.

The OP has a very sick, and demented mind. possibly neurotic, and a social loser. He has zero personality that hinders him from finding a partner, or even friends. His whole life revolves around his exploding giant ego which combined with his inferiority complex makes for a very toxic and completely unlikeable person. like everyone else around him, stay away.

  • Stupidest statement of the year right here. Verizon doesn't know how to retain talent. I have seen so many good employees get the axe by Verizon. They hire consulting firms to make recommendations on who to axe. They don't even know who their top performers are. Why would anyone with any talent or skills want to stay with a $hit company like Verizon anyways?

Makes me think of Jack's first words in that Meet the Parents movie.

So you came back to your "favorite" firing site. A site filled with people lives worrying about their future. That's your favorite site? And while back here at your "favorite" site, you read all the Union posts, and then tell us how much you hate them. Then you even start a thread to tell us how much you can't stand reading those posts.

There is a word that describes you perfectly.....A--Hole.

Maybe you should find a new Favorite firing site.

To the OP: Don't agree with this comment at all. If you are a diversity candidate, they may find a way to let you stay on. If you are near the top of your pay grade, and a white male over 45, someone has you on a list. The other obvious issue is that they are opening offices in other Countries, like Ireland, to save money. At the same time, they are importing foreign employees from India and even Europe at record numbers. That means a lot less jobs in the USA. The reason they do it? Everybody else is doing it, so they follow like sheep. By the way, the administrative cost of bringing in these employees must get overlooked, as you can not sponsor a foreigner without absorbing all the related fees that comes with snagging individuals from other countries.

MESSAGE TO THE ATTENDANTS.

If you can read this, please get this idiot off the computer. Please limit his rec time to 20 min and make sure he stays off the computer. I know when you let the mental patients play on the computer, there's less for you to do, but please think of us.
