I dread coming into work everyday. they treat us like crap, treat associates like they are crooks. they worry so much about the stupid little things, but spend billions on junk. whats 120 billion in debt anyhow. what a joke this place is.
Breaks my heart to read people have been let go after illness and after dedicating their life to the company for so many years...whats sad is VZ had people working together for so many years it was like one big family and then that family was destroyed it absolutely has affected work and so much knowledge has been lost! I have so much respect for the people in the company that have been there for years they all taught me so much over the past 16 years i have been there

I second the posting from IFzpHUh. Exactly the same happened to me last year. 35 years and first day back from surgery I was called in and let go by a arrogant prick director and my lying manager. Company is above the law and the credo along with code of conduct is complete BS. I too hope the severance stays the same, however, I was told that was the best and after the October 2015 cuts it would be reduced. Where is the government with this company? Hang in there and know that place doesn't give a sh!t about you or the customers!
That's true, for anyone over 50 or who has had a health incident that your boss or HR knows about - keep your resume ready, keep in touch with co-workers previously displaced by the H1Bs, and keep those headhunters in your phone directory. I saw some of my husbands friends who thought, or even were told that they were safe, get it in last year's RIFs. Don't let the whim of whoever is picking the victims catch you off guard. What a crappy way to have to live, always looking over your shoulder, but the severance was nice anyhow, we are still on the medical even though all of these months have passed. Hope they keep it the same for everyone.
Thank God I'm out of that place. Management by fear.

I'm hearing some combining of departments but no layoffs that I'm hearing of (today at least)
Only landline call centers? Or what about wireless?
I've heard 3 wireless call centers closing: Charlotte, Lincoln and Wallingford. it was supposed to happen months ago, but was delayed by the strike.

This just follows a continuing pattern: spend a lot of money on someting stupid, then lay off 1,000s of employees to cover it up.
Put it this way: If you are a white male, close to 50, then you should have your resume ready at all times if you work for Verizon.
