Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

WFRed by HPE at 5 pm on Friday. New job offer at 10 am on Monday.

I can only hope that somewhere, somehow, Bill and Dave are smiling at this young millennial American engineer.

To the rest of you awesomesauce people who have been forced to ride the corporate lightning after living through the Meg-Carly-Mark-Leo remake of "The Cube":

Keep your chins up.

Keep fighting.

Keep giving Bill and Dave...and Ross...and the other founders reasons to smile.

You are The HP Way.

Remember that.

To the rest of you who are still in "The Cube" (movie reference again), know that there is light and happiness beyond HPE. When you're ready to escape (or you get pushed by one of Meg's minions), remember that your fellow HP-ers will help you make the journey. :)

The same thing happened to me in 2014. I was in the middle of transferring to another group within HP when I got WFR'd.

I got an offer from one of HPE's biggest competitors within a week and I consider it sweet sweet karma that HPE is burning itself to the ground, especially since I got laid off for basically attempting to advance my career and had spent a few months interviewing within HP.

Good for you. You are one definitely very fortunate. Remember that there are thousands of former HP and HPE employees and their families who's lives have been turned upside down by WFR. Remember to help out others when you can.

The offer is not from HPE. I am going to keep the severance payments and use them to bolster my savings, spend on training and education, and donate to charity. And maybe a ltitle bit of travel :)

Luck = Preparation + Opportunity

Congratulations on the soft landing, I hope we are all so lucky. Hope you get the severance payout along with a new paycheck, best of both worlds.
