We are hoping to buy a car soon (Ford Edge) and are not sure if one of the retirement benefits is the discount pricing on a car. Hubby asked HR and she explained that your benefits are what we sent you. So he asked her to look into it and I'm sure she's been busy with other things and didn't get back to him. He was rifd in December, but his numbers added up so he is a "retiree". Does anybody know if there is a discount extended to retirees?

End of the month was a great time to go. The car we got had 200 miles on it. They said it was because it came from a lot in PA. It had the "look" of a car that had been out in the weather for a bit, not fresh off the truck. We got 10% off, free locking lug nuts, and at dealer cost Thule Cross rails and back bumper protection which these days is just a rubber decal. I think we did pretty good, I'm sure others could have done a little better, I know a lot of people enjoy negotiating, but for us it was awkward.
The Vz GM and Dodge "partner" employee discounts are about ~7.5% off of mrsp. Assuming Ford is similar. I've negotiated better deals at dealerships. Just go at the end of the month.

Thanks. You are so right. When we started talking price they threw a bunch of discounts on top of the published ones and the car price was almost $4000 below the starting price with incentives. I always heard you get the best prices in summer at the end of the month, but Wow! They said the price with preferred partners was basically X-Plan pricing so we did better. And then my husband brought me back down to earth - ugh the sales tax is huge!
There are decent discounts thru Costco too . Truecar.com is another approach. ..
To be 100% honest you can do a heck of a lot better by negotiating with the dealer anyway. However if you log into for and see the price through yhe Verizon link I believe that is your "discounted" price
