Most companies will die off after they forget how to manage, or sell off, their core competencies. When strategies become rudderless and they drift from mergers to acquisitions and back and forth, and then resort to mass layoffs, you can count their days.

Oracle will be on life support soon after big blows by Amazon and Microsoft. Oracle is to the cloud what intel was to mobile - both CEO's at the time under estimated the ability and vision of the incoming technology!! Microsoft has made a brilliant strategy to stay relevant and dominant into the next few decades of tech!! My get is in Amazon and Microsft toe to toe leaders in cloud, big data and virtualization...take those stocks and go long.

HPQ, HPE, Cisco, Dell, IBM... All will either disappear or evolve into something totally different to what they are today. I would bet my money (low risk) on AWS & Salesforce.com, and on Apple & Oracle (both medium-high risk). Betting in favor of the ones I listed first surviving long term... No way...
