So the big layoffs of 2016 were announced over a month ago. I'm curious- are many of those impacted finding other positions within AT&T?

If you were surplussed, make sure you thank your DOS . Their call alone. As for getting an internal job? Unless you know a hiring manager, no chance. Your DOS chopped your head, another isn't going to take a chance on you.
I've been off payroll for 4 weeks now (chose option 2) and am anxiously awaiting my severance pay.
If the goal is to reduce the number of employees on the payroll, it would be illogical to put them in another job. If the need to hire, they will outsource or use contractors to fill the gap.
I was hired by a competitor the day I left AT&T, And I did not bother to apply for any open positions
60 day notice. I posted on 81 jobs. was told it would be useless because the listed jobs were just that, listing with no intention of being filled.
very frustrating. looking outside ATT now.
We were told to get degrees in Computer Science to be safe. 32 were outsourced and the remaining are still here but now it looks like we are next.
Apparently it's all a scam to delay until outsource people are trained to do the job.
I know a few others with same story applying internally like crazy, no hits. But picked up some nice offers (southeast).
Will not say exact location, but will say I'm in the north east.
Many of my ex coworkers at AT&T had impressive professional achievements and credentials, they were placed in surplus status, and eventually let go, nudged out and pushed aside,, not even considered for job in which many of them were over qualified, but found themselves turned away even for the most basic jobs. Not because they aren’t competent. Not because they lack skills. But simply because they were older Folks, it is just matter of time for each one of us to be in their shoes
Wow, odds are against, 4 out of 4
What city, state do you guys live to get this many interviews outside AT&T for more money? Is it Dallas?
I stopped at about 15 internal week one. Ended up with 2 offers external week 5. Lost faith from hearing how peers were doing dozens and not getting any bites. I don't think surpluses a redesigned to retain the targeted. Their loss, I'm making about 35% more on the outside.
I applied for about 200 jobs and got 6 interviews at AT&T when was laid off. I got one interview outside AT&T. The one interview turned into my next job outside AT&T. It's possible to get another job with AT&T when you are laid off but why bother staying there if you can get a job pYing the same or more somewhere else.
Applied for 35 positions within the 60 day mark , 1 interview over the phone, with HR, not even a call back, while I had 19 interviews with outside companies and 6 offers
