ATT does not concern it's self with the details. All they are concerned with is the bottom line. Dumping senior people( employees over 10 years ) via downsizing then hiring contractors allows them to save 401 k and health costs.

Think about it, why are there no complaints issues to the politicians about moving jobs overseas ?

other posts in this blog listed overseas jobs being removed from the USA. Who complains? Some even said it was all a rumor.

The rumor hit my group in Florida last week and we have until September to find a job or are gone. No one thinks a job will be available. the only hope is the movement to a company like Frontier which picked up Verizon and looks like ATT will be next. I read the FCC posting and ATT is actively pursuing the legal means to drop wireline and video like Verizon already did.

I got laid off in September 29, 2015. It was the best thing that ever happened to me. I wasn't out of work a day. I got a new job with a much better company and couldn't be happier. Only a fool like Randall Stephenson would train other companies new employees. I'm hoping Randall joins me at Pat O'Brian's in Orlando, FL this September 29. I'd like to buy him a beer and tell him how much life is without being employed by AT&T.

Amazing...the security and ID compromises through their HireRight contractor

So now the retail / dealer network is wide open and low hanging fruit for the "Hacker Savvy"

I think bad decisions are being made. Giving Retail Dealer Associates access to all things internal including credits and internal systems with no monitoring by the AT&T Internal Account Executives that can monitor and train them appropriately seems like suicide! We aren't talking McDonald franchises with access to limited personal information. We are talking the publics entire personal lives! I "was" an Account Exexutive and I witnessed the outside auditors they hired to monitor the dealer public privacy behavior. I must say, it was shoddy at best. The audits I did actually protected customers personal info, the audits they did were mark a box, and if we know the guy working in the store he passes with nothing done to address the privacy issue, no take the post it notes off the monitors with peoples SS#'s off the monitors, no make sure the phones people turn in are wiped. I'd come back through and make sure it was done, yet I'm not needed... Just an extra expense for the company until they are slammed with lawsuites because those stores can monitor themselves. I can go on and on about what my job covered but the powers that be insist it wasn't needed, and one person could double up and do the work of two. Now his work life balance is destroyed and he is paid no more. Moral has also been destroyed. I could hardly keep up with my job duties before. My geographic area was enormous and the people that ranked me were new bosses to me. I was coming out of a huge personal loss, and they didn't know my personal circumstances. The ranking system AT&T uses is a giant joke of a secret. If people knew what it was, maybe we/they could do their jobs better. To know what is actually expected of you would be great! My numbers were good despite of my situation. As far as I could tell I wasn't promotable because I didn't have a bachelors degree, and because of my age I wasn't going to get one. Because of the area I live that isn't an issue I was happy to stay were I was. No one wants to live here. The poor guy that is stuck with double the work for half the money moving here to cover double here didn't make the right desicion taking the job as far as I'm concerned, but I know he is young and worried about his families welfare. He will lose his job shortly though as well. So my take on the whole thing is the VPGM in this area should be fired for such bad decision making, and AT&T is making a HUGE mistake over all, which will come back to bite them in the asswhen the lawsuits come rolling in.

Your correct, we were told essentially the same thing after everyone completed the pivot training for our group. We now have another series of classes to take and executives are pushing for us to do it on our own time. it's almost like they know most wont and then they will have another excuse to drop people.

very difficult and low moral.

Pivot is a method being used to eliminate people who don't make the change. If the numbers don't show what ATT wants then they will come up with another acronym.

Maybe something like roundup or swivel or spindle . In any case regardless of the word used and the compliance a lot will be gone.

It's time to pivot or be forced to. Only you can decide.

^ That's not always the case. I know a lot of well qualified individuals who pivoted before this company initiative and are being laid off in favor of contractors.

The Internet has revolutionized employee engagement/satisfaction in ways the typical Union never could/will. The day is long gone where a CEO could make isolated decisions, no transparency and yielded fear in his wake. Those days are over. The darkness is being illuminated.

As for being too old...that's honestly a perception/self esteem issue. The problem is people bought into these forever jobs until they could no longer. It's time to pivot or be forced to. Only you can decide.

The older we get , the more difficult is to find another job in some other company, misery lives company AT AT&T People who are unhappy may get some consolation from knowing that others are unhappy too, which is pretty much everyone I known for the past 9 years

I don't have a problem talking about Randy. He is apart of the problem. The creator of this bad culture and architect of the layoffs.

pointless post.

No one wants to talk about Randall. Let's talk layoffs if you have something. That is the point of this site.

Randall has nothing to fear other than not having a power outlet to plug himself in to at the end of the day.
