Google Fiber has successfully forcing the hands of incumbent telcos and cable operators to upgrade their infrastructure to deliver higher speed broadband, but its move to revoke its customers' right to sue the company in a court of law marks a disturbing trend, a Consumerist article notes.
When Google Fiber does complete its network build it will be a superior product to AT&T's current offering of 1 Gbps service in Charlotte, their next destination is Dallas....
Google will also be relying on wireless point to point connectivity thus they recently purchased webpass which has an infrastructure in place for residential customers. This should speed up the deployment.
Wait and see, but Google is slowly becoming a major player in fiber and this should put the fear of God for all the major ISPs.

Lol, "when Google fiber does complete its network build..." They've been so slow thus far, my grand kids will have grandkids by them time Google even thinks about finishing their network.
Fools, do you think Google will run it's own fiber. they are using the local telco's or cable company's.
even with their money the cost would be very high. The real weird part is using ATT or the local telco's system to do the transport. Now for the big surprise, ATT and Verizon is using contractors to do cable work in a lot of areas. The trucks are unmarked and people in my garage thought they were just doing cable tv company work. One of the guys stopped and asked what they were doing in a cross box and got the big surprise when he learned they were doing fiber runs and installs for ATT.
In some states the utility regulators are now allowing company's to add to the pole and underground using fair competition rules.
WE called the union and was told they were looking into it.
I hope I get surplused....I'm sure Google needs experienced fiber splicers! I know they treat employees better than the T. :)
