Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Request for information on the training facilities

Keep hearing different rumors on how many training facilities there are and how many contractors they can pump out. Does anyone have more specifics on this?

"Then why did the CEO very recently say the company is behind in installs???"

Two reasons.

1) Because they are. (But notice he didnt say by how much, and when BAU levels would be expected to return...that news is likely being saved for June).

2) Because he doesnt want the union to know how strong/weak their position is so they can be more easily blindsided.

Then why did the CEO very recently say the company is behind in installs???

Not to mention, this is the slow time of year as customers go on vacation.

"Numbers in my garage are BETTER than the Union's INCLUDING installs."

Two weeks ago, that was a rare case. But its now getting closer to the norm. Another month and almost every work center is projected to be at (or in some cases exceed), BAU due to the influx of contractors and new VZ hires (yes, VZ is hiring directly by the thousands, these are new VZ employees classified as "temp", not contractors). This is course is why EWAs will at that point start going home, or in the least be rotated off. Those "temps" along with the highest performing contractors will be the new VZ if an agreement is not reached.

How the hell am I bent over? I volunteered to do this. When I am done, maybe there will be a RIF. In fact, I will volunteer because I have many options due to my own work and determination.. I am here to help the company win.

so 35,000 or so jobs have been replaced with about 12-15K EWA's. May not be pretty but the work is getting done. In many places the work is being pushed thru much more efficiently. Thousands of contrators have already been trained and these facilities are pumping out about 1500 per week? In another few weeks there will not be any jobs for the Union to go back to, or am I missing something?
