Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Its Time to GO

CO-workers. Its time. Think of your family and the hole you are creating in your financial world. The possibility of a medical emergency which could be financially catastrophic. Huge hard decisions. Its a great paying job and you all know it. As far as job security...who in this world is secure in their job. Anyones job can be terminated, downsized moved etc at any given moment. Wake up, smell the fresh coffee aroma on a new day. Do what 90% of us want to do and go back to work. Peer pressure isn't worth messing up our lives over.

Its not that dark over here. The sun shines every Friday when we get paid.

This thread has been educational and enlightening for me. Thanks Union people for delivering your views with substantial content. Nice communicating as adults.

Debating if I need to thrown in a "scab" or "slug" just to make sure my post is not deleted by the Admin?

How about all those that were laid off in 2009 with 5+ years on. Nobody speaks about that. That was the next generation of people to keep the union going. The union sold out all protection on anyone hired after 2003. Now junior guys in the NY area have no less than 17 years. There is no cushion, there is no support. Who will fight for our retirement benefits when we're retired. Nobody. It's time to look at the end game. If you have little ones and think you're going to see retirement in 15 years, time to wake up. Second, if you think that we will have retiree benefits, still dreaming. It's time to come to reality and start taking the company for every dollar we can and do something with it that will ensure our future. Talking to all my brothers and sisters, go back to school, look into a business you always wanted to open. The uncertainty of the latter is almost more secure than our future with Verizon. I wish everyone the best but if you stand back and look at the situation, reality will set in.

I wonder how many unemployed union members will continue to whine on this board 8 weeks from now. Certainly by then they will have a clue.

VZ went all in. What is it going to take for them to see the light? Is it when EWA staff return home and BAU staff doing 50 hour work weeks?

Get a grip on reality.

Read the writing on the wall. This isn't 1890. Basic survival. Not that intelligent. We have one of the best packages in the industry. Find a better one and post when you get a job there.

F)ck off moron. The things they want us to accept are the reasons unions needed to be created in the first place. Just stupid.

Anyone in the work force should be rooting for pay packages to go up, not down.
