AT&T to make bid on Verizon land lines , quoted by a well known Wall Street analysts. With the acquisition of the land lines AT&T can't could monopolize the wireless sector while also expanding its fiber to the prem such as Verizon Fios. AT&T would control all of the subscriber fiber feeding cell towers and push Verizon wireless into extinction. Lowell mcadams did comment that he has magic dust and pixies that will make all the cell towers work with no need for wireline fibers that are currently running all the towers. Lowell also said that the short term gains of the sale would raise profits next quarter long enough for him to sell all his stock. Lowells motto since he took over has always been short term Wall Street profits is far better then long term growth. Since Lowells statement about pixie dust, Wall Street has gone crazy buying tinker bell stock.

Are you sure you work here? You don't have to own the whole footprint to be a successful wireless carrier, dudes. Do you think T-Mobile owns anything? Verizon could ditch all of wireline and still be just fine. Instead of having to deal with the stupid union, they can let someone else enjoy that millstone around the neck. Verizon would just pay the tariffs that everyone else pays to use lines owned by others. Let someone with a lower cost structure handle wireline.

Unfortunately, Fairpoint had its collective arse - both union and management - kicked by the condition of the plant that VZ sold them. You are aware that VZ was sued over this debacle, correct?

How many thousands did they cut when they sold the first wave to Frontier 10 years ago. Then we even had some folks in ME, NH and VT that we sold and then got their asses kicked by Fairpoint..
