Basically we are being layed off to pay for Direct TV! Thanks DTV We bought you and you fired us. The first thing I will do on my first day of separation is to cancel my DTV and my ATT cell phones.

I think you guys need to get a dictionary and look up the word sarcasm. When I read the original post, I saw sarcasm, not anger. My guess? A lot of people that were "with her".
I can assure you that ALL DTV Admins and MANY Site managers got their walking papers,just in time for Xmas,kudos ATT.Those that arent axed get a ridiculously low hourly wage,based on nonsensical numbers.CWA has let the techs down,not a contract deal yet.....

This couldn't be more false. I was affected in the latest round of layoffs at DIRECTV due to the merger. I came on after the merger and no one at DTV wanted this to happen. Our work process completely changed as we had to learn the ATT way of completing projects (CRDs, extended legal process) and the culture just became more negative overall in the weeks leading up to the first round of layoffs at corporate.
I agree. I have been with Dtv for 11 years and guess what we didn't want the merge either but guess what we can't change that Directv is part of the ATT family. United it can be a great thing. Directv had trouble with keeping customers because everybody wanted Internet, so now we have the best of both worlds. I love Directv and I have been a Dtv customer since the 90's . Directv you rock love the exclusive N. F. L.
Your anger, albeit justified, is misplaced. I am one of those legacy DIRECTV employees affected by this decision. What is happening is at a corporate level. Stephensen and Stankey feel invincible and are looking for more ways to line their pockets. I would encourage you to cancel your services. I would encourage every former and present employee to do the same. Thankfully, I am not saddened at their decision to place me in the affected group. I know that I will be better than before. Look to what the future can bring you.

I can vouch for the legacy DTV folks who say that none of us wanted this merger. Randy wanted a shiny new toy to play with and Mikey saw the chance for a gigantic paycheck. Meanwhile, the scrubs end up getting shafted: both DTV and T people get hammered with layoffs, U-Verse will be shut down completely, and AT&T will end up completely ruining DIRECTV.
Trust me, most DTV people see becoming part of AT&T as a huge step backwards into a much worse culture and company.

I'm sure when you are able to process everything more rationally, you will see how misplaced your anger is here. DIRECTV getting laid off in great amounts as well. There just weren't as many of us as there are you. So, percentages would tell a better story in relation to total workforce. We were sold down the river by a man who received his golden ticket and won't look back. AT&T is NOTORIOUS for this MO, and so I can only pray to get "surplussed" by the end of the year if I don't find a much better place to work prior to that. Your anger is misplaced. The Stephenson Doctrine laid out for 2020 should have been a lightbulb moment for ALL AT&T and DIRECTV employees. DIRECTV was not a failing company. No one but the bigwigs and other major stockholders benefited from this acquisition. NO ONE.

The punchline, of course, is that AT&T would have laid you off regardless of whether they bought DIRECTV or not. I guess simple people with simple thoughts need a simple reason to be mad.
