Thread regarding AT&T Inc. layoffs

RAE/NAE role moving forward?

I am very thankful to have made it thru the latest re-org and my heart goes out to all of those affected by the layoffs. Our market gutted national retail reps (NAEs) and had small changes to local dealer reps (RAEs). All ARSMs and DOSs over COR and Indirect were kept. We only know at our AE level that we have a job. Nobody has explained what our role is going to be and the directors and arsms are keeping tight lipped. They have been on hierarchy calls for their territory by DOS and they have a Regional tools and resources call tomorrow at 1pm for all arsms, DOS's,and vpgms. There are no AEs on that call.

We all still have a pit in our stomachs because it seems obvious that our position is going to be used as workhorses until they can get their systems and support aligned for all 3 channels. It seems that there will be another round of cuts down the line (6-18 months from now) and they will keep around 25-33% of what AEs are left and promote to ARSM. The Indirect ARSM role seems to be what the old AE role was. Can anyone please add any insight to this or post what you have heard.

The one response was 100% correct. We just got a conf call not 24 hours later saying that most responsibilities will go to the dealers. Bill credits dealer lines deposit waivers ---everything that takes up our time. AEs just here to cheerlead going forward. Same delusional people thought they would not cut the AEs because you are needed. Read earlier posts and see the naysayers who have been wrong time and again. chicago runs its market with just a DOS. Stop being delusional. Any AE with a brain is looking for another job. The koolaid drinking idiots will stay until the severance is cut yet again. don't be a fool.

RAEs would be the first to know about layoffs, especially you for driving excitement and energy in your doors.

so you're saying you're better than your peers or did you just inherit a better territory? As a RAE you produce indirectly, not directly so if you think you came in and got the cattle moving when the other ranchers complained, you're sniffing your own asshere.

As my good friend Abraham would say, you have a better chance at picking up the clean end of a turd than to have been the difference in your doors to "produce". Your "friends" of "14 years" are in a better "place" "homie"

I too have made the "cut" and am saying good bye to friends I've had for 14yrs. I was recent to the National AE position and went in with knowledge and drive from COR. I had felt many in this position were complainant in just going through the motions. I was told "not to chance numbers" and "to stay under the radar". I instead drove energy and excitement in my accounts and produced. Here it was about half and half between National and Indirect. We did lose Directors and ARSMs.

I have not heard any news about further lay offs. With 25-30 doors per AE I don't see the force becoming smaller. I'm wondering if this will end up being too much and how long it will take to readjust. Only time will tell.

AEs will get cut again very soon. this was just stage 1. They need to rid themselves of another 30% this year and then mid to late 2017 they will all be laid off. Many will be fired for performance in the next few months. Local dealer area managers and dealer small business will get access to credits, deposit waivers and live chat and the you all get totally outsourced. you are right to say you will be workhorses until they throw you away like used tissues.

The real question now is how do we get out of our agreements now that we lose our EMO DISCOUNT?

And the winner of the "not my f------- job award goes to..." You're seriously scared you'll be a workhorse? You have a job. Put your bleeding heart to rest and ask your boss. As a leader you have to "accept change". You should be used to that by now. Wrong place for these questions. Be thankful for what you have.

Probably should as your boss and not a board about layoffs. Will probably get a lot of hate.

With that being said I've seen the work load and it's actually really small. More focus on NR you will still have to do CART but almost everything else is being put on the AR accounts.

You are a NRFR now

Unless you learn BIG DATA you are living in temporary bubble

At least we got a chunk of change in a surplus and unemployment

Best wishes and enjoy your tortured grunt work listening to all that corporate BS of how they value their employees
