I see many posts about a potential end to this close at hand. This is my first go around and am not sure the how this works if any of these posts can be believed, but if an agreement is made, do we come back to work right away, or do we have to vote in favor of it before coming back? What happens if the majority of members vote the agreement down? Do we stay out, or if back to work already, do we walk out again? Do we have to wait another 9 weeks for unemployment? Like I said, newb here.

NYS is 49 days plus 7 days waiting = 8 weeks.
Q: What if I'm out of work due to a strike?
A: If you lose your job because of a labor dispute (strike, or other industrial controversy (except for lockouts)) in the establishment where you are employed, you will not be eligible for unemployment insurance benefits for 49 days. You may be eligible sooner if:
a) the labor dispute ends and you are still unemployed or
b) your employer hires permanent replacement workers
If you are going to be rude, get your facts first.
My advice would be to not make decisions only on what you read here or are told by the company or the union. Once you get all those opinions do some research on dol.gov, and maybe nlrb.gov. Good luck!
How can you all be so rude to people who ask clear questions. so much bs on here that how is anyone to know what is real. geez...you people don't deserve to work here. Since we are out this long I think we will vote first. The decision will come from DC & VZ as to what will happen & when. Sit tight, wait, keep optimistic. Several of my coworkers are purely ignorant jerks that constantly stay negative. Don't buy into that crap. Even with the BS & the strike we still have made out better than most in this economy.

9 weeks wait time = NY state only.
Last wave of hiring for permanent positions in NY go back to 2001. Everyone who got hired later on was hired as a temp and subsequently laid off. None of these guys/gals are left. Not one.
So, presuming that you were the very last person to be hired in NY, you would've already been through at least one strike (2011) as well through several contract ratification processes.
Now go back and ask your supervisor for another topic that you can troll on looking for morons posting FUD as a response.

Sorry for the scab bullish!t, I would say talk to your steward at your local. This can be an unclear time I understand, but what we are fighting for is our future. The folks on here that bash the hourly workers have problems, or just need to vent. Sad to say but what we loose they loose double..... And they still don't get it.

And xtv my question about unemployment was, if after we returned to work, if we do not ratify the contract and go back out....does the clock for unemployment get reset? You're Dick head just like xkx, if you're not the same person.

Nope, OP is a management shill. 9 weeks wait period only applies to unemployment in NY, and every unionized employee in that state has already been on strike and would not be asking such dumb questions.
Move on there's nothing to see here.
We go back rightaway or within a few days then the union will usually do a ratificAtion vote tell you it's been ratified and then it's official once we go back it's usually a done deal and we would not walk back out very unlikely that would happen more likely the union would make sure it's ratified even if it was voted down they will probably say otherwise to keep the peace
