@ghy: There have been meetings for 3 weeks regarding EWA phase 2. It's irrelevant to the strike negotiations. Both the company and the union are going to move forward with their phase 2 plans until a contract is ratified.

There are meetings today for EWA leads discussing "phase 2" roll out.
raw, i can confirm that but it's for certain folks going back to BAU as the company is changing the day of operation to BAU from EWA. Some of my co EWAers are going back since their daily responsibilities can't be on hold any more.
@vjh- And that is precisely why Verizon will continue to continue their preparations. Whether with union workers, or temp contractors/vendors... Verizon wants to get back to BAU. They’re not going to give the union all the time it needs. They want some sort of resolution. They do not care if the union comes back, or if contractors/vendors take their place. For the Union it’s crap or get off the pot.
"Expect Verizon to continue to prepare for the worst until the union is back at work."
The longer this goes, the less likely it is that the union ever comes back. Once a critical mass of replacements are in place, there will be little motivation to continue negotiating earnestly (if that is even occurring now)..
If the deal was close, there would not be a few hundred people leaving training every day. Nothing has slowed down on that front, in fact it's ramped up. Such actions do not seem to predict the contract dispute being resolved, more like the opposite.
Until the contract is signed and ratified, nothing is certain. Verizon would be foolish to back off their ramp up. Doing so would only allow the union an opening to exploit. Expect Verizon to continue to prepare for the worst until the union is back at work.
That's funny. I'm on EWA in Silver Springs, MD. We had 5 people brought in from California yesterday. If they were going to announce they were going to settle wonder why would they bring these people in.
I am about to p--p. More news at 11.
I legitimately heard that from our supervisory this morning here in VA. He we told by admin to start to get everything setup for them to return for the 1st.
How many threads are you gonna make?
Hope so!
