Thread regarding AT&T Inc. layoffs

A sad day

My friends received their notice via e-mail, were they treated with compassion and respect? The executives ought to look people in the eye, answer their questions, listen to their concerns, and warmly thank both those who stay and those who go for their service? our Manager especially followed up to bad-mouth the people that they fire, demeaning those who are let go is specially hard, specially from our inept Area manager.

Severance provided was capped to 6 months, as onetime financial hit to the company, but the way it’s handled can have a long-term impact on the morale of the remaining employees. Typically, the various functions I see severance through their own Understanding, Finance wants to control cost, Legal wants to minimize risk, next time may not be a severance package from a company that does not value employees

If layoffs are inevitable, Why this company keeps stretching out the process over weeks and months. Every quarter, The longer the uncertainty drags on, the more morale will suffer, many of us have polished our résumés, and those with the most desirable skills will find new jobs quickly.

I have no doubt that the my friends will find better jobs.

A single big layoff is tough on everyone but does a lot less damage than seemingly endless rounds of unpredictable cuts. The cancer is spreading through this organization

It's the waiting that is agonizing to people. Rip off the band-aid already, Randall. We all know you don't worry about finances. Despicable.

They let go a lot of older employees today in sales. Numbers did not mater but they know people are not ready and must take the severance which has people sign that they won't sue. If they didn't buy people off they would have numerous lawsuits on there hands

I was one that was let go today...over 15 years with the company. Numerous Summit winner selection, Far Exceeds on yearly MPPs....with that said, the last year has been hard - the last layoff (2015) didn't account for many job responsibilities that were overlooked...there were many gaps in the Collins organization. Hopefully this one will go smoother with more foresight to what the field needs - YES - the support positions should SUPPORT the field!! I wish everyone much success in their future endeavors!
