Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Nothing is happening on June 1st just like nothing happened on May 20th.

The company continues to add more contractors every day. By August all the EWA's will go home and will be back to business as usual at Verizon with contractors doing the jobs that the CWA abandoned.

@HLW: indeed…. Consider this too- each action taken by a repair tech (field tech, linesman, or CO tech) costs money. Each call costs money. There are plenty of customers who are, and have been receiving service without a single issue… they just pay their bill, and use their service. Those are the money makers. If the ones costing money leave, good riddance. The remainder are nearly all profit (or, as close as they can be). Let the costly customers atrit. It’ll make the bottom line look better when they sell off consumer wireline.

The only thing impacting the stock price right now is the pending bid for Yahoo.. Read the news... I've got no idea why we would want yahoo, but whatever.

I think OP hit the nail on the head here.

What no one here seems to understand is that the company doesn't care if the work that the replacement you're doing is poor. Yes the customers are suffering, but most of them will just put up with it and keep paying their bills. The stock is about work was last year. this is a very small price to pay to remove the millstone CWA them around the company's neck.

All objective evidence seems to point to the EWA's trained in the Brand new facility can do the job. All objective facts, they couldn't. So this 40,000 replacement trained in the Brand new facility workforce can? I said it before I'll say it again. The Facts. This strike is effecting the stock. The replacement workforce can not do the job to any productivity level, and it will take years to replace 40,000 20 year experienced people. Wall Street is not waiting years.

Find a new plan Lowell this one failed.
