"cashing in a paycheck/bennies that the rest of the country would kill for."

So what you are acknowledging basically is that as a nation, we are underpaid, with the minimum of benefits. You want call center jobs at VZ to be like the "rest of the country".

You're happy with the economic condition of the rest of the country? So if the rest of the country is underpaid, so should VZ, right? That's the race to the bottom that may talk about. You're proud of this? You like it? Aren't you patriotic?

You want your grandchildren to get an education and achieve something. That's fine. Nothing wrong with that. But with your cavalier attitude about the "rest of the country", high-quality, technical and specialist jobs continue to be outsourced or replaced with an H1-B immigrant. Do you not know this?

You are OK with this?

Sorry but I want my grandchildren to work hard and get an education and achieve something through all of their efforts. I don't want them sitting in a call center with a high school education with their feet up doing the bare minimum required of them and cashing in a paycheck/bennies that the rest of the country would kill for.

People in this country need to stand up and change American Standards. That's the problem with you people. Fight for something instead of having strings tied to your hands. Don't accept good enough. If we all have that mentality our kids and grandchildren will be struggling in 10 years.

I don't think the lemmings thought the strike would last past May 1st. And that they could strong arm the big bad bajillion dollar company into doing what they wanted. They were offered a good contract by American standards and their cronies didn't accept it. So ant....meet boot.

Here's an idea. Kinda off the chain. Maybe no one has thought of it before. But: how about you go back to work. Nothing is worth your home, your kids health etc etc etc. SMH

Every time i see one of these whining posts about no strike fund and/or unemployment, I ask myself "What did these people think would happen to themselves if a strike would occur?"

Apparently 2011 was not a wake-up call.

Wow… 10 minutes and no response from the union membership? So what will it be? A well reasoned argument about how @bbg’s logic is flawed, or a string of insults and profanities? Let’s place bets!!

With no strike fund, I guess the IBEW is.....up a pole

Yeah… Lowell followed a career path that led him to be CEO, and the unions want some of his salary. The IBEW voted for no strike fund. CWA should give some of theirs. Don’t be hypocritical, CWA!

IBEW voted down a strike fund. The members should vote to establish one.

Cwa gets a strike fund and can collect in NY.. they have ibew strike without first getting the unemployment bill passed and approved before we walk off the job. True solidarity and thinking of your brothers and sisters!!
