Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Anyone else ready to compromis on the 2 month out of state transfer!!!

I would have preferred working out of state for the last 6 weeks and collecting a paycheck, instead of picketing and working odd jobs. How about 2 months out of the year in 2 week increments. Voluntarily, and than if neccessary force by seniority with a minimum 20 hr OT requirement. This seems easy enough. If there is a need to force, there must be a significant amount of work in that specific area where OT should be warranted. Anyone else have any contractual compromises, that could help push this thing along???

My temporary turned into a permanent reloc 400mi from home. Before i was able to pack up they backfilled 11 employees with 45 in my old location back in '09. They play games thats all they do. A year after they said i can report back to my old garage. Sure pick up and move 400mi in 24 hrs right into forced overtime. Ill hust pitch a carboard box in the oarking lot along with my wife and a 1yr old. Now i got laid off and last minute offer to move to philly. No relic cost just report on a monday. This is all a game to thrm to rid of you without paying an additional dime!

Instead of compromising ....the union should let the company have everything they want for a 2 million dollar signing bonus and a 2 million dollar golden parachute per employee

Why would you be willing to do that? Vz should be hiring enough people to handle the workload. Just they are hiring replacements because of strike, Vz should hire enough techs do that they don't have to force of and out of state work.

"How many people have asked for a pair of needle nose pliers over the last few years and got a look from your boss like you wanted to take his daughter out on a date. "

LOL. So true. I'd love to buy you a drink for this one, whoever you are and wherever you might be...

Haha all you pathetic union numbnuts. You want to put in 3 hours a day of crappy work then spend the rest of the time giving each other handjobs and drinking coffee. I've never known a lazier, more useless set of people in my life.

How many techs have witnessed over the last several years the tight budget comstraints on virtually everything??? But when we go on strike, the Leesburg, VA site turns into F'n Mardi Gras. Food trucks, wine tasting, free boots and tools. How many people have asked for a pair of needle nose pliers over the last few years and got a look from your boss like you wanted to take his daughter out on a date. Forget about the money they are stiffing the vendors on the fleet side. How, many auto parts stores have cut Verizon off for parts over the past few years for failure to pay? How many towns are getting stiffed to pay their officers for emergency traffic control over the years??! The list can literally go on and on!!! But 39k employees walk out the door and strike, all of a sudden the damn breaks and millions come pouring in for unnecessary BS!!!! Unreal!!!

The design of the transfer language was to give the company "flexibility " to manage overtime. Therefore, sending enough of us that neither the traveler or the local tech would get overtime. In my area we already do at least 2 months out of town but it's in 10 day increments, Tuesday til the following Thursday. And occasionally that's with NO overtime. .not often but sometimes

Hell no.

There are already provisions in place for them to move the workforce around if another Sandy or anything along those lines comes along. They don't need to add anything.

Moving the work around is for the purposes of workforce abuse, prevention of job action and arbitrarily layoffs only. We'll be digging our own graves if we agree to this one.

No! The company wants to be able to do the 60 day out of town " temp transfer" sure sounds like an ok deal, but we've all seen through poor mgmt. We get the long term service imaginary. That was in the contract for a storm or large outage. Not supposed to be because first and second levels can't delegate the work correctly.
