Just curious, I probably wouldn't do it anyway ( i hate scabs) but being laid off from another Telecom, could I come in as a Scab and just not do anything ?? Serious question, so many of us have been laid off, could I come "scab" and just not fix any troubles or complete any installations and just make Verizon pay me for it?? Silly as it sounds, Verizon screwed me over too and I am pro union all around so why wouldnt I be a "scab" but not really and just collect a paycheck??

That would be redundant - we currently have numerous EWA's already doing just that.
it sounds like VZ did the right thing to you. It's good to know VZ does the right thing sometimes
Your time and effort would be better spent at a company who will appreciate you and the experience that you would bring. My suggestion is that you sign up with a few temp agencies. Whichever one puts you to work, put the agency on your resume. That will help to fill any gaps in your employment. Best of luck to you.
