Dude, I'm from Miami, FL. It's been hot and humid since March. The cold for the past few weeks had been a bit rough but as long Island warms up it only gets better for me.

What are the poor union slobs going to do in the heat? They can't even walk the picket lines in normal weather. All I see is a bunch of Jaba The Hut lookalike's sitting in lawn chairs every day. The union scum smell like stale beer and a$$ sweat on a normal day. I can't imagine the stench coming from the line when the picket monkeys start sweating.
I am from Texas ... hell, you ain't seen heat yet in the North East. Besides, I get to ride around all day in an air conditioned company van. Heat don't bother me.
You call this heat ? Come on :) My EWA assignment is 75-80F average in June/July/August. In fact, that's is not bad at all. And after that it goes pretty nice till Oct/Nov. Now winter is another story, but till then ... heavy rain, hurricanes and act of God is your best bet :)
I spent 34 years in the south, once the temperature goes over 82 it's Miller time. Prepare for drunk scabs...well, even more drunk scabs.
