Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Not saying it's going to happen, but what better way to stick it to Verizon than by the unions agreeing to a contract before a holiday.

The one who's going to get stuck are the members, the union is going to bring us a contract that is basically what could have been had in the first week, the company will still be able to send you on assignments away from home. I guess with unemployment coming up they know the members getting it plus strike fund would be fine and not want to come back until the union brings us a decent contract. This is going to happen so the union can continue to hold on to the strike fund.

The whole sticking it too them concept can fully be explained by your mama. She seems to be an expert at explaining extactley how to stick it too her.

What you are seeing is a truly cultural difference in the way people think. Paycheck to paycheck and a mistrust of higher powers is indicative of generational poverty. This is not to say people are poor but its a short sighted view of their world. This is learned from the way they were raised. It doesnt matter how much money they have there is no future planning.

Those raised with a more long term view of their lives plan for things and take respnsiibility for their live

Tldr: Small minded short term thinking vs long term preplanners

If you are successful at sticking it to VZ, that will hasten their resolve to union bust.

When the company is out to screw you during contract negotiations and when they send letters to your house on how to quit the union and cross a picket line and when a company wastes money FedExing half-truths to your home and when they hire drunken scabs, etc. then you stick it back to them!

"I still don't understand the whole "stick it to the company that pays me" thought process."

I don't either, and I'm a member of the unionized workforce currently on strike.

All I'm interested in is a contract that is palatable. "Sticking" it to anyone doesn't serve any meaningful purpose.
