Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

50 new contact workers

we received 50 new contract workers at our call center this morning! They told us within the next few weeks they will begin cycling us out on 1 or two week periods for those who are local. 1 week normal job, 1 week EWA! this should be nice!

this is probably the easiest job I have ever had.. my EWA is a call center and I have already won a tablet and an Apple Watch. Last weeks revenue sales were $163,000. I'm not even making commission like those sorry union workers. I may take this full time, especially hearing the average call rep makes ~$75K/year!. plus my OT checks are really nice and all I have to do is sit here, sign people up for service, correct billing issues, or transfer them to the repair side haha. wtf are you guys complaining about!? easiest job ive ever done!

Now most people guess one more month, then either a contract or replacement will be in place. Verizon is not in rush to end this. The longer, the better it will be prepared. EWA and contractors are getting better after 6 weeks, if not as good as the permanent workers.

Glad to see that they want to offshore call centers but just put 50 new people to answer the phones. Now if they could only find people with skill to work outside

yeah that 200 bucks a week (before taxes) is something to jump for joy from unemployment! geez, admit it, you are losing your asses financially.

Abv - temp contract workers do not entitle you to unemployment just like walking off a job does not. Typical hand out mentality, trying to find any sign that allows you to take a hand out. How sad.

Pretty sure if you ask a question then the sentence should end with a "?".. as in "wtf is a contact worker?"

If true, this will allow unemployment benefits for all Pennsylvania striking employees.
