Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

It's all but over, union associates...

...to come back and work June 1st while leadership continues negotiating under auspices of the DOL mediation. Company will avoid Memorial Day pay to union members, but must start benefits back up immediately.. Members to return any day they wish 1st thru 3rd. Vacation time if we don't go back until week after that. We cannot call any type of strike, including wildcat, unless we give company 45 days notice (last time it was 30 days). Company agreed to start up benefits immediately rather than 10 or 15 days later. Company also agreed to hold off on termination of appr 25 employees identified as sabotaging the network, until a full investigation and proof is presented to the union.

As for the contract, the company y has moved a tiny bit on salary (up to 8% now) and some guarantees that temp transfers will be limited to one per year per employee, barring multiple 'acts of God in one season (hurricanes)...

Good luck, stay safe, see you driving in about a week or so.

Don't worry, management never forgets either. We didn't forget when you lazy union thugs walked out in 2011. We've never forgotten how we were treated by the thugs during the strike. We've worked hard in the time since to make your lives miserable and to get the company ready for live without you. We don't want you to come back. We are doing the minimum negotiations needed to stay legal. Either your will come back with a reduced contract and fewer members so we can weaken or destroy you in the next strike or you won't come back at all. We win either way.

So this guy should quit because he and so many other employees, 40,000 were treated like trash by a very greedy company? You are probably one of the scabs doing the work of so many out fighting corporate greed, so no wonder your mad at him. Because Pat and the rest of the 40,000 workers won't forget what Verizon did to them, but for you scab, well your forgotten the day after the strike. Now who is the stupid F*** now!

Then quit, Pat Glover, you stupid f---. Why do you care about working for a company that you clearly hate? If you at least said, you are greedy and I'm leaving and going to work somewhere else, I would have a little bit of respect for you. As is - less than zero.

STRIKE 2016

I Will Never Forget

I Will Never Forget the day when the company that I have been employed with for over twenty years attacked my family. I Will Never Forget the day when that same company, which I have spent over twenty years of my life dedicated too, Attacked my children. I Will Never Forget the day when this company showed its true colors and turned its back on so many who have given so much to build the network.

How low can a company go sending letters to the homes, teaching members how to SCAB, or bogus proposals which were filled with half-truths and false promises? I Will Never Forget this company did this, knowing that the chaos would cause husbands and wives to fight over the stress of the strike. This action is shameful and despicable. To place a member in harm’s way, by trying to convince them that it is perfectly fine to turn your back on your fellow Union Brother or Sister is downright UNAMERICAN!!!!

I Will Never Forget!!

I Will Never Forget that this Company, knowing we all would return one day after the dispute was settled, found it necessary to Strip our families, and create more chaos, by removing our Medical benefits and Life insurance. I Will Never Forget this action was done solely to break the backs of the membership, causing such an irreparable harm that would force the member to cross the picket line. This attempt to break the Union came at no cost to the company, but created major Fear in every member or loved one who lost their coverage. I Will Never Forget the Questions that were asked by those suffering from Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiac issues or any other type of serious medical issues on what to do to just to stay ALIVE!

I Will Never Forget!!

I Will Never Forget the fact, I work for a company that has no respect for me or my fellow Union Brothers and Sisters. I Will Never Forget that this company does not care what happens to my family or the families of my fellow Union Brothers and Sisters. I Will Never Forget that this company made it personal and Attacked everything with lies and false statements, violent actions to harm members on picket lines, or use their deep pockets to hide the truth from the rest of the public. I Will Never Forget their weak and feeble attempts to try to break the Union.

I Will Never Forget!!

I Will Never Forget how the Strike of 2016 brought all the members closer on the picket lines. I Will Never Forget the Solidarity pouring out of the membership during the rallies, on the picket lines, mobilizing at hotels or when we took over the George Washington Bridge! I Will Never Forget how the Hudson Unit grew together during the Strike of 2016 and stood together, arm and arm as this company failed at trying to break us !!

I Will Never Forget!!

When the time comes, and this Strike is over, I Will Never Forget, and neither should anyone else; only the True, Strong Union Brothers and Sisters of this Union can do this job the right way. No SCAB or replacement manager can ever match up in skill, dedication or Loyalty to the customer the way a Union Member can.

I Will Never Forget how PROUD I am to be a Local 827 Union member!!!! I Will Never Forget what Verizon did to me, my family and all the members and families of all the Unions involved!!!

I Will Never Forget and Neither Should You!!

In Solidarity,

Pat Glover

@upr. Fact check. VZ doesn't pay your unemployment benefits. I and other tax payers, including your EWAs and so-called 'scabs', will be paying it out of their taxes. Irony, eh? Maybe you should thank them as they cross the picket lines.

This will be over soon. Company got caught off guard it being a election year. Verizon pisses away money all the time because of there stupidity. So can't look at the money there spending to mean anything solid. The real fight will be in 3 years when they don't have the government putting on pressure to settle. Verizon is 10 weeks at least behind on installs and people leaving because of the crappy service there getting. Just a opinion. They aren't gonna get anywhere with the people doing the work now. 1 out of 10 people who show up to your house might have a slight clue of what there doing. They hired felons to do escorts and the workers won't even take them because it's just 1 more thing they have to deal with when there already maxed out with issues and burned out to begin with. Have had 3 friends scheduled for fios installs and the company cancelled day of or day before appointment. Verizon is losing tons of money and will be dishing over 14 mil a week on unemployment if it goes that far. Stockholders were right Verizon is mismanaged worried about there short gains and never look at big picture. Lowell only cares about wireless when data is projected to be what grows. Wireless will never be as fast as fiber. That's just a fact. Verizon needs a new ceo who doesn't have tunnel vision. But what do I know.

" I do know that they suspended all contractor interviews today."

I know why this occurred, and its not because the company is slowing down the replacement efforts. The efforts are being diversified. I cant say anymore, but it will become obvious shortly.

"why logically would VZ keep sogning on hundreds, even thousands, of replacement contractors weekly and in fact daily, with buyout clauses for early expiration, if they didn't intend on continuing down the path currently on course?"

Answer: myopia

why logically would VZW claim to want to market to millennials, in the midst of purchasing non-millennial AOL, and then promptly go after non-millennial Go90 & Yahoo! ?

why logically would T-Mobile CEO John Legere criticize VZW and refer to them (along with AT&T) for doing the above as "Dumb & Dumber"?

How many times will you dummies fall for this? Your desperation is pathetic. Want to know what's really going to happen? I'll tell you. The company will keep bringing on contractors until the end of June. The EWAS will all go home by the end of July. And the CWA will be quickly forgotten. This was over the day the union did exactly what the company waited 10 months for them to do and walked off their jobs. You check to see just how much Verizon gave to old Bernie part in this game?

Not that anyone reading this site believes any of the rumors, but why logically would VZ keep sogning on hundreds, even thousands, of replacement contractors weekly and in fact daily, with buyout clauses for early expiration, if they didn't intend on continuing down the path currently on course? Faking out via shuffling current staff around is one thing, but paying for replacement contractors who the union would likely not work with is not a bluff, it's a strategy.

Based on info I learned earlier today, I believe the main topic presented here to be false.

Im not BS'ing (Im sick of all that on this site as well) but what I have learned from a reliable source (based not on direct information from the DC meetings of course, but rather on how that source is being directed to act), indicates that an agreement is not close at hand :-( The steps being taken this week (and the amount of $ being spent) are in no way actions that would be reasonable if there was even the whiff of an agreement.

I hope so. The only thing better than getting paid $75/hr straight time plus time and a half plus $125 per diem is getting it paid out for a 90 day contract if they come back and the company decides not to have us work side by side.
