Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Started already today. The same B.S. I made so much money. Verizon won't give in. The strike will go on forever. You need to cross now crap.

They!re getting desperate. It's pathetic. The spineless scabs that we're going to cross already have crossed. Nobody is going to cross now. I just come to the conclusion that the people begging us to cross are just plain stupid.

It is kind of ironic, on one hand, you have the formerly unemployed people that are now affectionately referred to as 'spineless scabs' and are off government assistance.

On the other hand, you have a group of individuals that walked off one of the highest paying jobs in the country that will soon be receiving unemployment

Round and round we go............

Zcm - see this is the problem. You say they walk off jobs better than what most people have. That's truly sad to me. These corporations make billions!!!! They can well afford to treat their employees better than they are. And I don't just mean Verizon. All of them. Everyone should be fighting for this.

I'm not some bleeding-heart liberal, however, the disparity between the 1% and the rest of us, has gotten way too big. They control everything, and the rest of us are merely peons in their never-ending game to get more. Enough is enough. I'm all for capitalism, but this is not what it is. These "players" are slowly, but surely, decimating the middle class.

You have a company that can easily afford to,maintain its' work force the way they have, and the way the workers are accustomed to, but when you look around, you see other workers from other companies not making as much as your guys. So you say, let's take some stuff away from them and give it to ourselves. Seriously, this is what is happening. How is this not infuriating to everyone??? I do t get it.

Call it what you want, the whole situation is interesting to me. On the management side, they will outline the facts, salary benchmarks and other analytical/rational justifications for the proposal.

On the other side, I believe you have folks in the Union that don't really care about the fact that the offer generally exceeds what is available to others in the job market.

It is more of an emotional decision, company is taking away xyz, might have to travel, etc., etc.

Look at the bright side, maybe we get to see NYE in Time Square Live for once.

How long does welfare last in NY? Other states the same? Accepting a hand out when you walked off a better job than most Americans have is an absolute disgrace and is milking the country via a loophole. The same kind of crap you supposedly strike for. Hope the politicians make a meal out of that one if it goes that far.

Unemployment benefits start soon too in NY. Sounded like NJ was proposing some B.S bill stating if the employer did something 'illegal' then they might be allowed to get unemployment benefits there too.

I agree with the Union folks on this one. If people were going to cross, they would have done so already, unemployment insurance kicks in like a week and a half, I believe.

Spineless scabs? People have no choice but to work EWA or lose their jobs. It's called taking responsibility. You decided to abandon yours because you're not getting enough handouts. Typical gutless and lazy Union troll.
