Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Sick day

With the idiotic management at the shops making demands and of course failed and veiled threats. I suggest we EWA workers have a sick out day. Let's see the numbers then. All the EWA emails praise our work and yet the shop managers show their true colors - now we know why the union is so angry. Reporting everything back to home base.

@1qhk Definitely agree on the vacation! 7 days and still no response on a time off request. Emails completely ignored. Oh and they want us all to be "more productive". Screw the RBCC organization. Maybe the management is just calloused by their slob union employees but at this point they should be over that. I went to college got a good degree specifically so I wouldn't have to end up in hell (read as call center). By the way, screw the people who live in Brooklyn, NY and get paid more than me (after cost of living adjustments mind you) to do this absolutely mindless order entry job. Hell they wouldn't even need to outsource this job to Cebu to save money! Just go to Oklahoma! I'm sure you could find a slew of college dropouts to do this job for half of your salary and no union. I hope the IBEW gets a fair contract, they do real work and I feel for them, but the CWA? Noop if there's a union to break it's yours. Hey IBEW! Screw solidarity! Go negotiate your own contract! You'd get a much better deal than if you keep all those dead weight CWA folks with you!

My only problem is the new 'forced day off' rule... I'm at 41 days straight and this week they are forcing me to take a day off. i'm stacking dollars yo!

I've already applied to tons of jobs. If I get an offer, i'm out. This EWA crap has gotten ridiculous. I don't know why they're being so dictator like with time off and stuff. If multiple people from the same group have a vacation/PTO I can understand if there's an issue, but if you're one guy from a huge group and you have a pre approved vacation, why are they being ridiculous about it?

. The Question is who is the bigger idiot? The guy at home going to walk a picket line tomorrow, or the guy in a Hotel thousands of miles away from his family tonight.

I'd say the fact that there's a paycheck involved for one of them makes that choice a little bit less idiotic.

Some days I feel that to be entirely true. Especially when I look at the situation I'm in, and where I am right now. The Question is who is the bigger idiot? The guy at home going to walk a picket line tomorrow, or the guy in a Hotel thousands of miles away from his family tonight.

As an educated person with 20+ years with the company and pushing 60 I have been around the block a time or two. To say that I am union because I suggest a sick day is showing your sophomoric mindset. Sick out and blue flu days aren't a secret. Sure there are the die hard EWAs who don't have family and and enjoying the money. I would rather be home and back to a job I enjoy and am appreciated. Your inability to see both sides of this equation is your problem. Not mine.

I am an EWA and i'm fed up to the point of doing anything to end this. My shop manager is an ego maniac with an inferiority complex. I'm not union, and had preconceived ideas about the union, they are gone now.

You've been working in the union environment too long obviously. You're starting to sound just like them. But, I suspect you are actually a union member. Most normal people don't even think in terms of "sick out", so I'm pretty certain you're just another union troll with nothing better to do than impersonate an EWA worker.

Ty 1cmw

I have talked to my boss while I was home and am assured no shop mgr can write me up or fire me lol. Every instance of mgr bullying and threats are sent to my boss who forwards it on up. I can only hope that someone wakes up and this kind of behavior stops for all it effects. Personally I wouldn't tolerate a job like this for very long. You catch more flies with honey.

Lol... Actually the people calling the OP a union shill crack me up. Makes me realize how many people who post on this board are clueless internet trolls. The union people would understand what he posted. I understand because I've experienced it in recent weeks. Never hated on the union from the beginning. In all honesty never really understood what they delt with.

Now I do.. It's pretty f---ed up

There is one irrefutable and consistent truth to all posts on this board....anyone claiming to be EWA is really a union shill and those that claim to be Union is an EWA shill. This site is only good for a few grins, and that's it.

These shop managers are reflecting the ideals of the company and upper management! This is not new, welcome to our world. Every day we get harassed and abused by these dimwit yes men.

And. In the beginning I was completely anti union. But there are some very valid points to be had. Still am anti union but I can't unsee this sort of mindset these managers have. Certainly no way to build up and empower your workers.

Hardly a troll. Tired of the shop bs. Close out all my tickets and the one day I can't I'm told to just pass them along to someone else because then the numbers will still look good regardless if they r closed or not. Have been threatened by the high school kid shop manager that MY job is in jeopardy. Ha. I know it isn't but this puffed up chest thumping and posturing is no way to run a business. Think what u want. I could give a crap less.

Indeed OP is of Union mentality. Nice try there buddy with your failed attempt of socialist indoctrination. It won't work on those with work ethics.
