They sold those states because your CEO is a Moron, and paid 130 billion to Vodaphone in a wireless market that is saturated. 130 Billion!!! what an A$$

I can't believe these unions think they are in a good position. The more days go by the better position the company has. Wireless is the big dog funding the company not wireline. Why do you think they sold California, Texas and Florida?

I am EWA in a call center. Customers are happy to speak to caring employees fixing their problems, that occurred prior to the strike. We are now only working 5 days a week due to 5 new USA call centers being installed.

Wall Street will not let this Strike prolong. The Government will not let this Strike prolong. CFO Fran Shammo told investors this strike is coming to an end and that they are losing customers and it will effect the company profits. It's too bad because the Union is absolutely destroying the Company in this fight. The Company can train 1 Million knuckleheads to do this job NONE is going to get it done in time for the Almighty Wall Street.

Stop dreaming Company shills about a company without the Union it will never happen. and this Strike just proved that without a doubt. You can't do it with out the Union workforce period. Union employees, please wake up. You are the phone company workers. That is a dying business. You tried to stay relevant with fios. That is starting to become irrevlant. This is not Ma Bell times anymore. Verizon has employees all over the country and globe, and only 20% are Union. Verizon is not isolated in the Northeast. Union is not working on the backbone network or the wireless network outside of VZ footprint, which is now 8 or 9 states. Verizon is making more acquisitions (XO) to build that network for our broadband and wireless networks with no Union involvement. I am in the Midwest, and no one outside of VZ employees knows you are on strike. The only news other than Union leading publications that no one reads, is from Local northeast tv stations, and a few national articles not really pushing your case. Contractors have already replaced one call center, and thousands more in the pipeline. Non Union people are coming back to their own job, and hours are being relaxed. Wake up. You are being replaced. Join the 21st century. If you act now, maybe you can save your job.

So true. The support from the public is absolutely overwhelming. Hardly a negative comment in almost 6 weeks. Seems that management it to busy scratching their heads, counting their money and sleeping after actually working to see what's really happening.

Here's the realty of a CWA union run call center where I work. He old timers do very little and if asked to do something outside their comfort zone they scream from their union rep. Actually had one woman threatened to shoot a manager. And was she fired no. She was counseled. Because. Because she had never been written up for that offense before. The center has roughly 25 reps and could have easily ran with 8-10 reps. Union fat. And everyone knows it. Just another reason unions are on the decline. Good riddance.

@oxe..Union did not agree to mediation. There is a mediator present for both sides if needed. Big difference.

If verizon isn't hurting why are there banks in NYC that have signs up saying due to the strike this branch is closed. Businesses are suffering and some losing many customers. You pole smokers can't do what we do effectively. Even union scum can figure that out.

The fact that you don't realize that your union agreeing to arbitration means they already made major concessions actually works in the unions favor because it will be so easy to spin it as a win to the obviously not very bright workforce.....all the political money you have given to democrats, and Obama hosed you on the Cadillac tax. The company is not on the ropes ..... Wireline is on the ropes. Wireline can be driven to the ground and the company will likely care less. They will put tape around the fiber transport and put it under wireless or create a spinoff for the transport side.

Wireline cable and switching they will let sink, sell or spin off.

The sooner everyone realized this the better.

I've talked to people that have cancelled there service because of strike and have also over heard strangers talkng about it, many of them relate because they were outsourced or let go because they made good money and benefits and some young guy came in and would work without those perks. Americans are starting to see the light and the support has suprised me, its not from the local politician looking for a vote but from the community. The strike is turning into a movement and corporate doesn't like it, Lowell tried busting the union but ironically he has made it stronger. Thanks Lowell and Marc!

OP Hits it right on the button. Something has changed since April 13, The company had a plan, and it's failing miserably. Now the biggest factor in this Strike is that Wall Street knows this, and will not tolerate it much longer. Lowell and the boy's will have to tuck their tails between their legs, and listen to Daddy Wall Street tell them to put their ego's away, and except defeat. End of story.

The OP is smoking crack, I'm an EWA and my customers tell me that i'm so much better at this easy job than the union slugs that they had, they are begging me to stay and telling me they hope the strike never ends.because im so much better. my local manager love me too, he's begging me to stay. I do 3 triple plays a day and 5 repair jobs. that's something the union fat lazy slobs can never do! Im making so much money right now that i cant even count it. So please stay out. Over 200 major american corporations, including Verizon's competitors outsource in other countries. Why is Verizon the bad guy for doing what everyone else does. Next your going to tell me that you don't shop on Amazon, use credit cards, go to best buy, fly on airlines, and own a car because they outsource in other countries.....Last time I checked it was against the law to collect unemployment while your actively striking in most states. Thank god! What a precedent that would set. Let's not take a healthy fund and turn it into the pension.

Stock down 3% since Strike started, and sliding. Now tell me that doesn't matter? Keep fooling yourselves if you want, but Verizon is losing this Strike. So if it's Lowell's long term plan to keep losing customers. That doesn't sound like a very good plan to any company.

There is NO reason to treat employees this way. I'm a business owner and the better I am to them the more productive they are for me. In my business we value our employees and in return they work hard and we compensate them well. Just like the expression, one hand washes the other.

IBEW2222 is not receiving unemployment or pay into a strike fund.. Unemployment is very unlikely in the near future we have a Republican Governor..

Well thats one way to spin it. Another way would be to say 40k people were replaced with 1/4 of that amount to keep the wheels rolling. Loss in the market is expected and collateral damage that is expected. Contingency plans have have been enacted and worker counts and proficiencies continue to improve with maybe 35% of the same amount of people. Workforce is being built up daily with new contractors that will require some ramp up time but will be running soon enough. EWA though not in their full time jobs are doing fine most are new to the position they are in.

Your point of view is overly optimistic about the demise of the company that employs you.

The replacement workers are increasing in number to the point that I have several EWA friends who are scheduled to head back in a month. Additionally VZ is no longer pushing long hours on people retained at their own job.

All signs point to VZ being extremely comfortable with the current situation.

No one's about to cave. Company is making plans to take this thing out to the end of the year if needed. Pretty crazy that both sides are dug in hard, but the strike and EWA are the new normal for the next few months it seems. Sucks for the customers more than anyone.
