A great leader?

"When the Master governs, the people

are hardly aware that he exists

Next best is a leader who is loved.

Next, one who is feared.

The worst is one who is despised.

If you don't trust the people,

you make them untrustworthy.

The Master doesn't talk, he acts.

And when his work is done,

the people say, 'Amazing:

we did it, all by ourselves!'"

Here we are a few years later and he proved you all wrong - it looks like he completely turned NYC around and it’s now the best run division at the firm!

"I thought he started in Massachusetts like Eric Sheehan."

I stand corrected then. Was completely unaware of his existence prior to him getting into PA. It seems that he's even more of a liability that I originally deemed him to be...

Which - once again - proves that he's no asset in his own right and will be sent off on his merry way once again...

Beasley was forced out of Mass after the Provincetown incident of '09...nearly ruined both his career and marriage

Beasley will get moved - although not immediately - because Mudge has to save face.

The problem with Beasley is that his strategy has proven to be counterproductive, and hasn't reaped the rewards that he must have promised those above him. Let's take a closer look...

He started in PA, where he did manage to frustrate a ton of people on all levels, but failed to put a dent into the union.

Moving on to NJ, where he did a much better job of union busting but has also triggered lawsuits against the company which is a pretty big "no-no".

Move on to NY with the concept of showing that he's able to crack what is arguably the union's very stronghold in VZ's territory, just to fail again. Sure, he got some folks fired and pushed others into retirement, but nowhere near the number that he needed in order for his upside-down strategy to prove sustainable and/or rewarding. Re-inventing the wheel in order to get people frustrated has gotten numerous 1st and 2nd level managers to quit, and their spots to remain open for months because no one in their right mind wanted these jobs, not under Beasley's rule anyway. At this point in the game, McAdam will have to put on Seidenberg's hat and ensure that the asset that he's intent on selling doesn't get damaged any further thus endangering the very prospect of getting sold.

So, no, Beasley's mission was not accomplished any more than Bush's were when he proclaimed it to be...but a significant amount of damage to VZ's inside culture has been done, and whether it can be repaired remains to be seen.

Its easier to suspend and fire, instill fear

Than it is to be a true leader and motivate
