FINALLY THE UNION STRIKE

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - AT&T workers walked off the job Friday and picketed at AT&T locations throughout San Diego.

The 1,700 AT&T employees on strike include technicians as well as people who answer the phone.

According to the labor union that represents the AT&T employees, the company's willful disregard of the union's request of documentation pertaining the usage reports of AT&T's monitoring practices was the reason for the strike.

Executive Vice President, Tosha Broadnax, stated, "The documents requested are necessary to protect our members from the constant abuse of the monitoring system by management. We have a contractual right to request and receive these reports."

They will be concerned when the lose customers and $$$....they can't push back tickets indefinitely. Customers will go to another provider. The way you get at&t's is MONEY.....that's all they really care about!

This is a local issue only. Restricted to San Diego. The whole district isn't on strike. Last I heard AT&T isn't even sending the contingency workers for this. That should tell you how concerned they are.

Just a FYI...AT&T changed the contract length in different states so there could be no one big group to strike together! This was not cwa's choice. I am part of the 1700 members in strike....we are standing up ro the Bully! we are tired of all their takeaways and Greed from AT&T!....we can't even order daily supplies without second level approval.... ridiculous....we will stay out as long as it takes!!!

We have been told our COR store is up for review at the first of the month, and now on real time sales is showing all of the RSCs AND "Shop and Go ####." Is this a sign that we are going agent?

just 1,700? STRONG UNION? seems silly, won't make a difference, there is a reason CWA's contracts are NOT negotiated at the same time nationwide, the whole union system is rigged against it's members, if they would like to make a difference that will be the way to go...

It's been time. Now let the national conversation start. It's time customers segregate really under the hood and whose pulling the puppet strings.

This is what we need more of in the USA.

All unions or at least most unions working together as they do in Europe.

Examples such as Strikes Across Europe in which unions support each other and get attention from companies and government when they join together and can shut down business as usual.
