5/20 isn't a magic date other than its when the concessions Verizon gave will expire. That means the deal on the table tomorrow will be worse than what you had available today.
It's going to be a long while...just relax. Nothing is going to happen for awhile.
For the purposes of this thread, the difference between signed and ratified is insignifigant. The general population has heard that 5/20 is a magic date, and there is no info coming from the source. They are speculating and rumor mongering to eliminate the info vacuum.
This will be settled by labor day
"you are hearing rumors about this weekend because some of the signing incentives from the LBFO were taken off the table today if no agreement was signed. Some think this incentive had some teeth, some think it’s meaningless."
Some folks on this board seriously need to understand the difference between "signed" and "ratified". Verizon's so-called LBFO was calling for a ratification by 05/20, not just the signing by union leadership. Everyone in their right mind knew that this was not going to happen, on both sides of the fence, but it didn't hurt VZ to try...
I think we are at a juncture where those in the know are uncertain on which path we will be taking. Because of this, all possibilities have to be planned for so that we’re not caught on the wrong foot. That is why some groups may be preparing for long term EWA, while others are getting ready to resume BAU.
So many mixed messages. There have been things happening in our group which would indicate a ramp up and not returning to BAU. Of course, as others have pointed out - it's all speculation and people grasping - which is what happens when a gag order or news-blackout occurs.
@WQI… you are hearing rumors about this weekend because some of the signing incentives from the LBFO were taken off the table today if no agreement was signed. Some think this incentive had some teeth, some think it’s meaningless. Either way, it represents a hard point on the calendar where something may or may not happen. With the gag order in place, everybody is looking for something to fill the void. I, myself have heard of some changes in my BAU workgroup that I can/will not elaborate on. These changes COULD indicate something is in the works. I do want to be positive, however, I also know that these changes could have nothing to do with our return to BAU work.
Verizon's future is in India and Manila. Get over it.
Why am I hearing so many rumors about this weekend? Unless Union agreed to come back without contract, doesn't Union have to then bring the LBFO or whatever to vote? So doesn't that take at least 48 hours?
I don't think it will be Monday like many think. I think by June 1 this will be resolved. Only way they come back by Monday is if Union accepts the LBFO or they return during mediation still going on which no way happens.
gy1 -- because it's "business as usual" (or emergency work usual) until the agreement is in place. They are not going to slow down based on progress; they will keep deploying until this thing is done. The money is already spent.
Simple...they don't care about people, or wasting money.
"Deployment of more ewa is not a sign negotiations are going badly. Company needs to contingency plan for many months going forward. They won't stop that until something is official."
Agreed - but why send brand new people just yesterday if they feel an agreement is about to be reached? Why also ask people to move from EWA work in one state to another - today as a matter of fact - if they feel negotiations are nearing an end. That's a lot of money to be spending, just to say "agreement reached" today.
"Unless the givebacks are taken off, I don't see 17K CWA/NY agreeing to a TA when Employment Benefits start kicking in on June 2, 2016."
^^^^^^^This.
And without NY, there's no sale of the leftover VZ territories to Frontier, you can bet on that.
All this is speculation at this point... I wouldn't trust a word from any anonymous source because I heard Lowell said he was going to sell wireless to focus on building fios by locking out the union and using the mexicans left over after finishing trumps' wall.
Deployment of more ewa is not a sign negotiations are going badly. Company needs to contingency plan for many months going forward. They won't stop that until something is official.
Watch for communication to come out later today, do not reserve rooms past 5/27
New EWAs arrived yesterday at many locations - plus many have transferred locations and/or duties - I doubt anything is going to happen soon.
Unless the givebacks are taken off, I don't see 17K CWA/NY agreeing to a TA when Employment Benefits start kicking in on June 2, 2016.
I've heard a rumor from a pretty reliable source that there is already some agreement that June 1 will be the return date.
Until the parties reach a settlement for good, the EWA schedules will not change. Not an indication one way or the other. Company is not going to start calling people off just because we may be close.
Doubt it. Just got schedules through end of June when replacements take over.
