How do notifications come for non-Call Center folks

I wonder how affected folks working in corporate offices get notified if they are chosen for termination. Is it with a phone call? Email? Does a faceless HR drone summon you into an office with other victims for a mass killing, or is it a one-on-one with the same supervisor whose been telling you not to worry for the past month?

It's still early in the morning, but I already see a lot of grim expressions on faces who are waiting to hear the word.

We were all given a mandatory conference call invite and put into listen only mode and everything was explained by our director... And then we received emails after the calling telling us if we were surplus or had to take a contractor position (those receiving offers with the contractor had to a accept it they would not be offered severance package). That was a pretty awful way they did that to us! Only a handful of us managed to stay employees. I hope they are more humane with his they treat current surplus (this was 3 years ago)

I've seen companies do it American Idol style. They'll break a department into 2 separate meetings. 1 group is told they're safe and they're to stay in the conference room so the other group can gather their belongings with dignity.

Your manager will call you and give the notification. Then you will receive a packet via email or mail.
