Despite all the herpa derpa bullshit here, as management in a state that doesn't support unions, good luck to all of you on getting what you need. A majority of us filling in understand your dilemma and hope you are able to make a good deal. Regardless, we are in the same boat, maybe worse. We are making good money for now but that doesn't really make up for our lost family time. We know your families are who you are fighting for. The sooner this ends the better off we will all be.

The "cult" had died in 2003 for anyone with a brain, and the little that has survived died after the 2012 contract. Union is simply viewed as possibly lesser of two evils. Not unlike Trump vs. Hillary contest on many levels, truth be told.
In reality, many people stick with the union for no other reason apart from simply being aware of the treatment that they would receive if there were no union in place.
As a union worker I want to thank the OP and agree with you. I hold no ill will towards management that have shown their respect in the face of a crappy situation. And yes respect is a 2 way street. This strike was forced on some people and they were put in very awkward positions and did it with a ton of class.
Kudus to those people... You have earned my respect and will get it when I get back.
However in many cases I saw the complete opposite. Those people have lost my respect,as well. Sure getting called a scab sucks... But if a manager can't handle those moments of union members acting out in frustration (in most cases it's all we have). Then in all honesty.....shame on you.

So this is all about revenge? I feel the company is not giving me the lifetime employment I feel they promised and so I will get even with them or try to force my will? At the end of the day, the company is still paying my paycheck. For that reason alone, they deserve my best efforts and some measure of loyalty. Scabs or not, people are trying to support their families. I am sick to death of all these unwritten laws. If the union won't work, then you bring in someone who will. If the union members value their loyalty to the union more than to the company that pays them or to their families who they have committed to support, then let them go be disloyal somewhere else.

I agree with above. The Scabs are the contractor workers. Management (myself) do not care for them, they were forced on us.
your not a scab if your a manager forced to do a EWA. And yes im Union believe it or not there are places that treat the people with respect (managers). But the scabs are what they are and i defer to Mr London on that point. Oh and TY
