Uverse Downsizing

U-verse people will be long gone before their beloved DTV people get the ax! They lost their free coffee and the world was coming to an end. What are they going to do when Aramark dismantles that 5 star cafeteria and puts in vending machines? Buying DTV is the downfall for thousands of employees. ATT does not give one crap about us...

I usually work between 45-50 hours a week but the piece rate model had for techs I was making between $35-45 and hour and overtime was half whatever I made in piece rate for the week. If I averaged $40 per hour for the week in piece rate then everything over 40 hours was paid at $60/hour. We had bonuses every quarter that were between $2k and $2500. We were paid good but the work is hard and not worth doing for $22.34 / hour. I guess they will get burger flippers who want $15/hour and "train" them to do it. Directv will be run in the ground in 2-3 years. Its sad I have been with them since 2002 and hate to see it happen. Its over.

The bad news for ATT, is cord-cutting will gather steam until domestic pay TV subscribers decline from 98 million to “a new equilibrium” of 80 million around 2023.

“The [AT&T/DirecTV] merger has already visibly affected many TV network companies, including Viacom and Scripps Networks Interactive,” Juenger said. “But it hasn’t hit everyone yet.”

a very ugly second half for ATT

Im a DTV legacy tech and they cut my pay by about $30K/year. I was making about 100K installing DTV and now they put our top pay at $22.34. F*** AT&T Im hanging around till the end of year and I'm out.

Guess what? AT&T doesn't give a crap about DIRECTV either. Massive layoffs but done in phases to keep it from being a PR nightmare. Upper level executives scuttled in favor of AT&T many-titled idiots who have no expertise. Don't act like DIRECTV is getting the luxury treatment. And not only are DTV folks being treated poorly from the CSRs up, but we are getting paid SIGNIFICANTLY LESS along with it.
