Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Mediation

FWIW, Shammo says the parties agreed to mediation.

"We're entering into our sixth week at this point," Shammo said. "All I can say is that we're at the mediation table after the Secretary of Labor called the leadership down to Washington, D.C. on Sunday and they agreed to go to federal mediation, but at this point we're not allowed to talk about any of that."

@jxs.....dude, the whole market is down 3% since the strike started. And in fact VZ has been sliding consistently down ever since "mediation" was announced!

So will Lowell fire Fran Shammo for talking when there is a gag order? Lowell would probably get another bonus for firing this guy.

The companies brilliant plan is to beat down IT and marketing people by forcing them do do jobs they have no clue on how to perform or perform safely, bring in real scabs with no background checks who have no licenses, unregistered vehicles, no ID's, carrying weapons and abusing drugs and alcohol while interacting with our customers is it- then hire as many off the streeters as possible, give them a crappy tablet and a pair of cheap workboots and a weeks training? this is the "plan" of the multi-billion $ behemoth? It's a freeking joke- and the stickholders should be embarassed- as Shammo said today stock is down 3% since strike. With no installs happening you thinks it's going to get better? LMAO Who are they rushing to replace? are they mass hiring IT and marketing people? Foreman? Directors? Who do they really need? Yes, they need the 39,000 CWA members.

"CLEARING THE BACKLOG"- after 27 years I know what that means- scrubbing the load, when in doubt close it out and we'll be cleaning up the repeaters when we get back. if all is well, then why does the article in Forbes state installs are almost non-existent?

@HtAoibn-osh My friend can do 5 to 6 tickets a day sometimes including installation. I think the whole garage have about 30 people. 3 to 4 are doing copper. Roughly 100 tickets a day or maybe more.

Whoops. We are 20k now doing the job of 40k. We don't yet have 30k replacements in the field.

We are clearing the backlog. It takes time to get used to the new role and gain proficiencies. Considering we started out with something like 12k workers doing the job of 40k and we are now at 30k doing the job of 40k, it's actually sad that the backlog is clearing - it means we are more efficient than the union workers who had years more experience at the job.

How many installs a Day? Our Garage with 20 Techs does about 50 a day plus the troubles. Your lucky if getting 50 done in week

My friend did a triple play few days ago and regular installation two days ago. I think the company is doing Fios installation but doesn't have enough people who have installation experiences, that's why they keep sending people to NCC to get installation training.

The union refuses call it mediation because the same FMCS mediation was offered by VZ before the strike began so they have no way to explain why they refused mediation back in April and instead chose to lose 1-1/2 months of pay and benefits.

The anti Union posters on here just can't bring themselves to the realization that the Union is winning, and the company is crawling on their hands a knees.

GO CWA/IBEW!!!!

The Unions are not doing mediation....get your facts straight, and if Shammo said it...I'm not surprised that he doesn't have a clue to what's going on.

CWA should have accepted mediation at the first place.

CWA doesn't agree that "we" are in mediation.
