Bua- thanks. I've been working on EIS bids for months and has no idea this was the former Networx!
For the purpose of this thread, the Networkx contract referenced is actually called "EIS" and it will be awarded this fall. Huge contract worth $50 billion over 15 years, anticipated to service at least 30 percent of the $6 billion annual addressable federal communications market.
My point is Verizon should know the mediatior will be involved if the negotiation doesn't go well. If this contract is so important to them, they should have given union a better offer than the LBFO and negotiated with the Union every week. As I know the company hadn't talk to District 1 for two weeks and District 2-13 for a week before the labor secretary step in.
rjt: The Networkx contract is definitely true, it's coming up for re-bid in a few months. Yes, it has to be re-bid, but Verizon is the incumbent and has the majority of that revenue today. I have to believe the the strike and potential issues with labor troubles would have some bearing on whether VZ wins any of it. And as the incumbent, VZ has far more to lose than anyone else -- millions and millions of dollars of existing revenue.
If the Networkx contract is true, Verizon still need to bid. No guarantee it will win.

He's not under a gag order. That would require a court to prevent him from taking.
In this case, all sides agreed not to speak to the media about the negotiations. Its voluntary.

Someone posted in another thread that the government Networkx contract which is worth half a billion dollars and VZ is the incumbent on might have something to do with the cooperation now that the gov't is involved. I have no idea if that's true, but it wouldn't surprise me things move quickly at this point.
Funny someone brought up the 20th. The strike will be over by this weekend with workers returning next week, they have a 72 hour threshold to return after announcement is made, I believe.
After reading the Fortune article that came out today, It's in everyone's best interest to come to agreement.
I think that reporter is just giving old info. He is saying the progress Fran talks about is the fact there are meetings. Nothing new to see here.
So, either the reporter is taken what he said out of context or had a different conversation with him...both possible and positive.
I listened to Fran at the MoffettNathanson Summit, he said that fact that there is a meeting shows progress, he didn't say anything about the strike ending early or the labor dispute being resolved.
Just read that , too... At least it's somewhat credible... Let's hope it's true!
Yeah well it's obviously moving towards an end one way or the other. Tomorrow is the 20th.
