Right. The number is ~47,400. Very few (if any) salaried AT$T employees are paid that low. The effects of this law are inconsequential to AT$T.
I hardly think a law changing some of the specifics regarding overtime pay is the cause of these Layoffs. It seems to me that a more likely reason is that Randy promised some significant cost savings after the merger from what he laughingly called "synergies".
The layoffs have nothing to do with overtime. And I doubt very much that most of the folks getting notice would be among those impacted by this new law, since they would already be well above the minimum annual salary.
True, I was suspecting this and now I see that there are other folks who think the same. In California, this rule is already enforced, so expect accelerated layoffs in California.
Yea but RAEs still do not fully meet requirements for being tax exempt. Need to manage 2 full time people with the authority to hire and fire or at least have say in if that happens.
People who stay will have big changes on how they operate.
They'll still keep us exempt. Most have a salary close enough to this threshold that it would be cheaper to just bump us up.
