because copper is alive until, and only until, FIOS ramps up. Once FIOS is deployed, copper will shrink to 10% of what it is now. Wireless will be used to fill in the gaps. Verizon knows this and wants to sell off copper to a buyer. They aren't going to ramp up FIOS until they sell as it diminishes the value of their copper offering.

why did they give us all new tablets before the strike? why did they install new dsl equip in the co that'll run 50 meg last month if copper is dead? who knows why they do some of the things they do. This company is business as usual.
Not true - 4 more new EWAs arrived in our garage today. If this was true, why are more people arriving. 2 more scheduled for Thursday. They have also told many of us to extend hotels through the month of June.
True - certain non essential EWA's will be working 40-50 hour rotating shifts staring Sunday - Admin resources. Has nothing to do with the DOL meetings. Some retained EWA's were straight OT - some were 2X after 50. Rotating shifts to cover the 12 hour work days.

I hope this isnt true, as an ewa it sucks being so far from home and family, but after seeing my paystub for Fridays check, its gives me more resolve to keep working this OT. I have never been in the position to triple my bau biweekly pay, this is phenomenal!! It sucks captains are making us work only 6 days a week now, but I will do it for as long as necessary, just more padding if a rif does follow this exercise in futility.

It will be CWA that caves. Look at CWA's Wikipedia page. Out of 12 strikes dating back to 1955 they have won only 4..

If settlement was true, the union would be notifying rank and file, press releases would be out, Vz would be having Ewas make flight reservations in staggered priorities. None of this is happening.
Definitely not true. This is going to be a long term strike, until a contract is signed. There is also some talk of hurricane season, as the union walked back in last strike and had they held out 1.5 weeks longer, Big V would've caved due to Hurricane Sandy and replacement workers inability to cope or fix major issues after the storm. Many feel like the last contract was a slap in the face of associates, and there is a big push from membership to remain out until a contract has been ratified.
Why would Lowell cave when strike of 1989 lasted 4 months. Plus, didn't strike of 1968 last 7 months?
My trusted sources told me Lowell is giving each of us 1 million dollars to just walk away so they can get rid of wireline. I believe it!

Don't think it's true, asking for volunteers to move from center jobs to field positions. They asked for my background today and will be reporting to a central office starting on Thursday. Been given tomorrow to clean up my desk and pending items, check out of hotel, drive north and check into new hotel.
