Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

EWA vs Union - Union vs EWA

Inbreed fighting needs to stop. Without you there is no us. The EWA support of of the Union diminishes when you call them scabs treat them as such - they have to work -its part of the deal. and you know Flip side - EWA's need to support your stance. They (EWA's) aren't happy working 12's and want you back. They (Union) aren't the enemy - figure that out and it will help your cause. SCABS/Temps - open prey.

EWA's same - support the union -the better they have it they better you have it. More jobs for the union - more jobs for the management. In every garage there are sh-- for brain union employees as well as ahole's managers. The better the contract - the better off everyone is. I know - glass 1/2 full. I worked both sides / - when VZ flushes - we all get a taste. BTW 2nd level's are open prey as well....

Unfortunately, if an EWA takes the same approach as a union member (i.e. walk away from the job because you don't like the current situation), they will likely be terminated. So, an EWA, assuming they are not content with unemployment and permanent loss of what is otherwise a good career, must accept the assignment,.

" A scab is someone who takes a temp or permanent job and is hired and trained by Verizon during a work stoppage. They are the worst kind. "

They too are simply trying to support their families. They are not coming in and forcibly taking anything away from the union....they are only picking up what the union decided to leave.

The company doesn't give a crap about EWA's (verizon employee non craft). The poor bastards are forced out under threat termination, and 30 days later find their original job posted as an opening. They are still Verizon employee like you. A scab is someone who takes a temp or permanent job and is hired and trained by Verizon during a work stoppage. They are the worst kind. Contractors can be scabs or employees of companies that accept a contract for verizon. Either of these are fair game and should be given the full but legal treatment when found.

For once a positive message that seems to get some negativity.

This is childish end fighting and I have watched this site but am done.

Does anyone have family or friends on both sides of the issue? Do you selectively end your relationship because someone said so or do you support each other and respect each position?

Hey I live in Virginia - it's an awesome place to live! I could move anywhere in the US and have wondered where that might be, but only Colorado might be as nice. Except too far away from family and vacations in Europe.

Hoorah! Good point. I am a job steward , a very dedicated employee and love my job. When I have to rep a p o s .... I cringe. When I have to deal with a first level mgr that has a wife who wears the pants, I cringe. If my wife was banging every tech in New York I would cringe. Then move to virginia. .... We both have problems on both side of the house .

Actually... it's not that simple. EWA's are mostly the "red tape" people, aka the next out the door if business declines. Which it has. Union people come back, they go home to their normal jobs. Don't send EWA's home full of ideas about how boorish and unkind union folks are.

They will get fired if they stop doing the work. They choose stay because they have families rely on them. Not like you unions always hide behind your union master and let the master look after you. Looks like some of the strikers pretty enjoy the unemployment. Husband and wife both have $400 unemployment plus $400 from the national every week. Co-pays is $3. They say they love it.

@cyc.....EWAs have no choice if they want to keep their jobs.

I'm an EWA wife and my husband loves his BAU job. If he gets RIFFed, he'll find another one, but he loves the one he has and VZ has been very good to us.

He has a lot of respect for what you guys do every day. He wants to come home, but why should he have to give up a job he loves, so that you can keep yours, which you walked away from?

oh...and BTW those here who are posting that you are boinking EWA wives, please stop. You should be boinking your own. And it only makes you sound ridiculous ....because our husband's know that.....you're not!

Everyone loves the money. Once the contact is signed - you'll be working the same 12 hour days. Understanding EWA's/Union members shed the vail of an anonymous board - everyone plays nice. Hypocritical as can be - you are the sh.. for brain Union member that probably eats lunch with the ahole manager because he lets you slide. BTW - EWA hasn't a choice - stay or get fired - scabs have a choice -union members that cross have a choice.

if an EWA doesn't do their job, yeah they go home and resume their regular job but it also means they could possibly lose their regular job.... people who are not in unions actual have to perform in their job to keep their job, maybe because you are union you don't understand that.....In the real world, whether you like it or not, you have to perform and produce results to keep your job.... your comment makes no sense

Real simple......If an EWA wants to go home, then stop doing the work. Keep doing the work, it tells me you want to be here, and like it's been posted many times how much you love the money, and how your enjoy spending the money.

An EWA production keeps him/her here....Haven't you figured that out by now!....If this Fails, they call it quits, and EWA's get to go home.

One more time keep getting it done day to day.....You stay and stay.
