I heard from a manager in the EG they were told layoff notices are coming on the 28th. The process for union members is a bit more complicated (not saying is impossible), but there are many union contracts in play. I'm a union member myself and we are hiring ( just hired 5 reps and I think they are hiring three more).

It's like AT was bought by DTV, not the other way around!!!!! They came in and are shutting down U-verse. DTV has pulled so many U-verse teams off support, moving them over to DTV leaving us gutted. ATT moves in unqualified and untrained people into those support positions and they want to re invent the wheel. Some of the new people are clueless and don't understand we have a process in place and have had one for 9 years. Frustrating that we can't work for DTV unless we are willing to move to freaking LA!!! NO WAY!! They don't Telecommute, and the managers over there won't allow it. I see them in the TH's looking miserable because someome took their free coffe away!! Sniff sniff. My group has been reorged and we now work for a complete jerk! ATT changed up our TC policies no doubt in time for this DTV take over mess!!!!! Seems like this is the plan. Make your work live miserable and you'll gladly move on.
You must be dealing with Marachel Knight on the layoffs at AT&T. She is another one in leadership there that's part of the walking brain dead club.
So this means what? There is so much misinformation floating around. It's pretty obvious that DTV is being gutted as far as their workforce. We aren't stupid. However, there is a lot of fear-based management going on, and it's about to come to a breaking point. I also heard 5/23 would be the announcement, but I have the absolute most useless manager, so we get nothing.

the lurie town hall is to go over the changes and announcements. verbals will be this Friday the 20th
Won't come on a Saturday, especially memorial weekend. Look for notification the 20th or 23rd.
The 28th is a non business day. Doesn't sound right, I could be wrong but it's pretty important that people are fully notified or else they will be required to pay insurance among other things through August.
The 27th is a popular guess but I think before Glenn Lurie town hall on the 24th makes the most sense.
