Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

See I told you this was holding up the yahoo deal

No surprise here. Vz wanted mediation first now they turned to the dept of labor

They can't close the deal and buy yahoo for billions while there is a labor dispute.

How does it look when your vz stores are being picketed and the new signs say "8 billion for yahoo, givebacks from the middle class"

Lowell can't play dumb anymore and say he doesn't know the problems at bargaining

Does it matter who needs to save face, if the contract can get completed, and the members back to work. and the EWA'ers back home.

All that was said at this meeting is that both sides agree that bargaining should continue.

I'm sure Lowell knows what's going on, he's the CEO after all. But he also has to worry about the remaining 80% of Vz that this strike situation doesn't impact. You do know that vz is not just an ilec in the NE anymore right? And before the exposé on Vz EMEA and APAC ccomes out by the CWA's sherlock freaking holmes divison, there are vendors and contractors offshore in Europe also that do order entry and call center work. Hurry up and send a 'delegation' there, oh and don't forget India too, we have some provisioning and back end office work there too! Shh, don't tell anyone.
