I will give the union to make it happen until that holy Tuesday. If they do not reach comun grounds with VZ, I will cross the line on Wednesday. It is enough, it is already over 30 days already, nobody will come and pay my debts. I feel I paid my dues with everyone in here and the union; now it is time to respond to my family. I am crossing on Wednesday if this meeting ends up in nothing. Peace....
The Union on Tuesday should send in that DUI Drunk EWA worker from Massachusetts to negotiate for them. Send him in loaded, and all by himself.

Remember this is coming from the "if you like your insurance you can keep your insurance " administration. I for one want to continue the receiving unemployment I funded for the last 30+ year, we go back when Lowell bows down. The company has already blown it's budget for the entire year and we're not even though the second quarter. I guess the summer managment RIF's will make up for a lot of the loss of revenue.

Just wondering if the only reason the dept. of labor got involved was because the monthly unemployment report came out and it took a big hit from us being on strike. Doesn't look good for Obama and Hillary with it going up.

Will I was hoping to get the RIF package in December, but with the OT pay I made we can now move up the date. I get my package, go on benefits for 9 months and then evoke retirement after 38 years of service. My luck, I won't get a RIF and that would get me mad.
Scabs going home within two weeks and RIF's shortly thereafter.
Then the idiots saying the Union is finished can post even more frequent BS.

on the ongoing labor dispute involving Verizon workers
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today issued the following statement on the ongoing labor dispute involving Verizon workers.
“A few days ago, U.S. Secretary of Labor Thomas E. Perez reached out to the parties in the ongoing labor dispute involving Verizon workers and invited them to meet with him in Washington in an effort to help the parties resolve a dispute that is affecting thousands of workers, their families, and the company.
Today, Secretary Perez met at the U.S. Labor Department with Lowell McAdam, chairman and CEO of Verizon; Chris Shelton, president of the Communications Workers of America; and Lonnie Stephenson, president of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. The parties had an open, frank and constructive dialogue about finding a comprehensive way forward to resolve disputed issues and get people back to work. The parties agreed to return to the bargaining table on Tuesday to continue their discussion.
“The best way to resolve this labor dispute is at the bargaining table, and I am heartened by the parties’ mutual commitment to get back to immediate discussions and work toward a new contract,” said Secretary Perez. “I was singularly impressed by the parties’ appreciation that time is of the essence, and their strong commitment to use the collective bargaining process to reach a mutually beneficial resolution.”
Well, I'm more hopeful that a resolution will be reached soon than I have been in a while. A part of me still says, "Yeah, right. I'll believe it when I see it." Good luck, everybody.
This is the normal Washington dance to look like they care what is going on in the world. Nothing will change until the Union agrees to mediation and the chip will fall where they may. The union will not win everything andVz will have to give in some. In the end, jobs will still go elsewhere and union people will never gain back what they have lost. If the union wins one thing, I hope it is the elimination of the pension cap. While I have no use for the union, I just find the cap wrong on so many levels. One thing to tell new hires it will be capped, but for someone who has been here for 28 years the rules are changing is just despicable.
Finally a glimmer of hope.
