Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Next Week changes?

What is the big secret info that is being passed down next week? RM called a special meeting for store manager eyes only about bonus and new store structure?

This company is a sinking crap vessel. The company has once again demonstrated that it values you work less. An excellent result draws less reward. They aren't offering merit pay increases to offset this, are they? Nope. They're demanding good results in exchange for less money.

Rather than placidly being thankful, get the job search going for real this time. This is a poo-choo train barreling toward nowhere you want to be (besides, they've shown they'll fire people who have achieved good results at the drop of a hat.).

same thing at FSS. The goals are totally unrealistic. No way to accomplish.

How can you get a bonus when you're set up to fail? Upper management doesn't listen to the field, enrollment trends show a decline, yet they up the budget to unrealistic goals. Way to motivate your managers when right out of the gate they know we won't achieve our goals....and it's our fault. Just plain arrogance and straight-up bullshit.

Company men....remember that a bonus is the result of a stores performance. If the store performs poorly then no bonus. If the store does really well, you should get the full bonus, not a reduced bonus. Performance based means it is contingent on performance. No reason to cut the bonus if someone does really well unless to redirect it somewhere else. We are all working stiffs, just some of us don't know it______YET. I am m sure you heard the article that the middle class is disappearing. Most employees move into the lower bracket move into the lower wage earner tier while a few move to the upper wage tier. Care to guess which way you are headed?

Johnny Rocco: Well, I want uh ...

Frank McCloud: He wants more, don't you, Rocco?

Johnny Rocco: Yeah. That's it. More. That's right! I want more!

James Temple: Will you ever get enough?

Frank McCloud: Will you, Rocco?

Johnny Rocco: Well, I never have. No, I guess I won't. Oughta be thankful you get bonuses, or get the chance to get a bonus at all. Stop whining and be lucky you still have a job 'cause I want more!

That's why you hired MLS, she promised you more! She fired all the people that knew the business and now look what you got!

You do realize their money funds this company right? Do you pay attention at all? ROI... Mean anything? Apparently not. You must think people can just continuously throw money at something and not expect results.

Oughta be thankful we get bonuses, or get the chance to get a bonus at all. Stop whining and be lucky you still have a job. Thanks Follett Family. WE should have planned ahead and been born into the family so we could sit back and collect dividends for doing nothing and look down our noses and the poor bastards we allow to have jobs. FU!

No argument here. That said, I do hope the belt tightening is at all levels.

Oughta be thankful we get bonuses, or get the chance to get a bonus at all. They're cutting them by 10%? Ok? Is your store running well enough and profitable to where you can bonus? More work? Half of you don't do anything as it is. Everything that was listed that we will be accountable for is in your job description and you should already be doing it anyway rather than sitting on your asses at your computers all day. Stop whining and be lucky you still have a job. Stop making those of us that actually DO our jobs look bad.

Gee, I wonder if all levels of management have had their bonus caps reduced to 10% as well? That has always been the story that the GVP's and RM's get the same bonus percentages. Just wondering if the pain is distributed evenly.

This family is focused on maximizing their dividends while they still can. They no it is going down and nothing they do will stop the declines. Sales are already down across the board (YoY).

Work harder for less bonus. Wow - way to treat your employees.

Appreciate the heads up. Nothing makes a week special quite like the old last minute conference call for just a few things. For fans of Apple that meant a cool new gadget. For Follett staff, well...

One point of the very long document states that a store manager should be a "profit and loss expert" as in knowing specifically how to affect gross margin, profitability, etc on a micro level. On and on...scheduling, customer service, campus engagement, etc. The bar is being raised and accountability will follow.

Can you elaborate comfortably about the new verbiage?

The calls are happening across the enterprise between 5/13 and 5/20. The biggest change to field managers is that a max bonus is now ("in the short term, at least") 10%, down from the 23.5% (which itself was a cut). Note the verbiage in the new store manager's job description. It seems more actionable. Nothing encouraging here.

When did RM's make this announcement, and what's happening to specific management?

More good news then? And you wonder why the cracker jack senior management wouldn't want to share that with everyone? Great news to the family, dividends going up again! Tip Top news for the B&T associates, all this coming your way!

It is a mixed bag of new job titles/descriptions, job slotting based upon store sales volume and bonuses being drastically cut as part of FY17's STI (short term incentive) plan. Basically, expectations and accountability go up, compensation goes down.
