Grossed almost 15K last paycheck. Wife and family support me 100%. Will get another check on Friday about the same. Took of mothers day. Going to get it while I can - they are cutting us back to 6 10 hours days as the bring in perm employees - I will pick up jobs until they make me come in. Picket lines are a joke. I have a bucket truck - air condition. My meals are paid for - loving life. My EWA manager says 1/2 will be be back to BAU in June. Hope not - almost have JR's next semester paid for. I support you staying out until July - just rented the big house in the Outer Banks for the family vacation first week of august. Booking my fishing trip. (I have canc insurance just in case).
Going well - making megabucks - get 1 day off per week - traveled home once already - going again next week. Family has been out at my location for a weekend vacation. Pool at the hotel. And - and - the job is FAR FAR FAR easier than my BAU job. And, to top it all off, I get to make sure 911 centers, hospitals, families, and businesses continue to get phone and data services - which is very satisfying.
I'm all set here. Mortgage account still has 3 extra months in it, union is paying for COBRA, unemployment starts in 17 days, got an under the table job starting next week doing some electrical work, and I just opened the pool. It's going to be a relaxing summer before the big overtime comes in when we get back. EWAs and scabs can enjoy the pain.
Working out just fine. Can't say as much for the scabs though. Management is giving the hell they deserve. 6 and 7 day weeks, 12 hour days. No recourse for unfair and unequal treatment. Being transferred at whim many hours away.
When it is all over, the temp contractors will be out on the street, and we get plenty of voluntary overtime cleaning up the screwups they left behind. Happens every time.
Meanwhile, enjoying some much needed time off, got plenty of savings, mortgage and all utilities paid way up in advance, freezer full of groceries and no credit card or car payment debt.

Wrong perspective. Not brothers because of treason. Your a bitch!
Like I said, 'brotherhood thru intimidation'.

I hope after we are back that they transfer you to a real union shop. You won't be so cacky then. The guys down there who are suffering for you will let us know. Scab
Then why don't you go negotiate by yourself? Go get a good contract if you don't need us. The fact is that you would have probably been gone already if not for the people you care nothing about. Your in no way represent the majority of craft. You should be ashamed of yourself. And you call the union greedy. Nothing like having your cake and eating it too you leach.
@rle ... I am in Virginia and I am not worried in the least. I could care less if Union members do not like me or talk to me or shun me. I do not support 'brotherhood thru intimidation'.
Honestly though, I really don't think any of the Union people will be coming back.

As a non-union craft member? Your the type of leach we are fighting against. You want all the spoils with none of the sacrifice. I hope for your sake your in some remote part of rural America and have like 2 people in your garage because if your in an urban area when we come back your life is gonna be hell. That is if you are even from Verizon or America?
As a non-union craft member it has been working pretty good for me. Instead of struggling to find work, I have picked up another area and stay busy most of the day. The day goes quick. The EWA have been great to work with and have picked up on a lot of things. The are past that steep learning curve and improving every day.
Certainly the company has lost some customer but there are a few angles to that. Some will come back, others will migrate to us as they are unhappy with someone else and at worse case...the wireline side will be sold off and the business loss will not matter that much to the VZ core profits.
I think I answered the question three times already.
I'm doing good. Have off tomorrow, picking up my new boat from BPS. Another few weeks of 6x12 and I'll have it paid off. I don't care if the union breaks and the company falls afterward. I would like to see both sides crash and burn.
Everyone is suffering. Who suffer the most? I believe Union members. So much misleading promises from Union leadership which does not have much leverage against Verizon. Verizon is suffering the business loss, but it is short term and it will recover. It determined to break Union Statistically Why Union members cannot see through it. It is a loosing battle and they will be the final victims to pay.
