Union or not Americans should have stood up along time ago to fight all of these jobs leaving America. These jobs make our country great and they are leaving by the thousands everywhere you look. Now we are fighting tooth and nail to keep that from happening and we are scum of the earth union people who don't understand reality. I think it's the other way around. When you think about it you can't really argue that. Society says if you have more than me I hate you and will try to bring you down to my level. How about looking long term for the good of this nation and our children's future. Some things are worth fighting for.

I agree we should have never associated with $15 per hour movement and it does need to be about American jobs just not union labor. Unfortunately anymore unionized labor is the only way to combat this problem because of strength in numbers. I don't think we should stand with Bernie either. He got $75000 of cwa money for 10 minutes of air time. I was a Cruz guy converted into a trump guy.

Better off? Your not getting a paycheck and haven't for almost two months. You have not had health insurance for almost a month and there is no end in site. This could go on for a year and you will come back to a worse contract then before after you went months....maybe a year without pay and benefits.....

@HoyfMI2 I remember in 1992 Ross Perot coined the phrase "that giant sucking sound". He told us then, democrat and republican alike,what the corporate business strategies were and nobody listened. I'm sorry, but I have to lay the blame where it belongs and it is us. We let wedge issues determine our politics when it should be our wallets. Most of us will not hesitate to say how bad congress is but never examine the record of our own congressman. I'm not an expert, but from where I sit, if you are a member of the working class pay close attention to who represents your congressional district. Check their voting record on the things that impact your standard of living. Remember who you are, i.e. if you make less than 200k a year, you can't join the country club where Lowell is a member. Let me translate, if you are a member of CWA and vote republican, you are the intellectual equivalent of a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders.
Jobs are being offshored because they can pay cheaper wages. I can hire Joe's lawn care. He employees 80 people and gives them a decent wage and bennies. He charges me $100 for a cut and trim. Or. I can pay the neighbor kid $20 for the same job. Granted he doesn't edge well but hey - it is just my lawn. Not curing cancer here. Right? Don't expect a business to be less prudent with their profits then we are with our paychecks. For most people cheapest price wins. There is a reason Walmart is number one it's because we are cheap.
The jobs that r be shipped out I wouldn't think they should be considered career jobs. Our call center is filled with college kids making a paycheck until they graduate. Sure there are some that have been around forever. But. It is like any other job that the requirement is simply a high school education. In this economy where we have folks with master degrees working any job they can get. It is sad that the folks that have put zero into educationally bettering themselves think they should make or are owed a high paying job. Remember please that the avg income in the US is $54k.
I think for me one of the issues that made me think the union workers were off their rockers was the alignment with the $15 fighters. The McDonalds workers. The high school kids. Do they deserve $15 an hour. Hell no. I have a degree. I just barely make that and to me it is a slap in the face to think that that kind of unskilled uneducated labor should earn as much as someone who has tried to better themselves.
I hope the strike ends soon. I don't think it will. I hate that families and most importantly children have been left without insurance. I understand why it had to happen but it was an election on both sides. If you elect not to work then this is what happens. Solidarity does not pay the bills. Other than God nothing is more important than the health and well being of my family. Period.

You are 100pct correct . Alot of management non union and union feel that you are just a number in this company. Well seems like every big corporation in the u.s.a is the same they dont care..and nafta, ttp and all the other b.s that all this politicians , laws and bils that they passed has been hurting the american worker for the passed 20 years and now its like bubble thats about to burst.
