@1ers We might be able to find jobs, depending on where you live, but it will be as contractors without benefits not employees. Agree with you and am extremely mad at the incompetence of our union.
The union leaders have run out of ideas on how to end the mess they have gotten us into. They have refused Verizon's final offer, refused mediation, and refused to understand that most members don't want to be on strike - at least not this long. They have put is into a corner and there is no way out. They cannot cave now because it will prove they are worthless and their actions were stupid. They fear for their jobs. Will Vz start replacing us after May 20th? It is a dangerous situation! Finding good replacement jobs in this field will be extremely difficult.
An article written by Union? Just an excuse for spending over thousands dollars for nothing. They should spend these time and money on bargaining table and helping Union members who need financial support.
jeezuz didnt anyone read the article ? The call center union over in the Phillipines contacted the CWA here and asked them to come over. The BIEN union there said the call center doing work for VZ was doing an intentional slow down because they had not been paid for their overtime/6th day work
I spoke with reps from one of the Philippine offices. The union in there trying to unionize the workers. Security escorted the union dummies from the site. The union has actually been picketing multiple VZ and vendor sites in the PI. You see, the double talking union blasts the Philippine workers from one side of their mouth, all the while trying to get them to unionize from the other. They don't give a hoot about you, its all about the dues. DERP
That was a call center company that responded with security, not Vz. They sell call center services to many companies. The heightened security is probably a good idea in light of the many terror attacks and bombings going on across the globe. If this is the ace in the hole behind the strike I sure hope it was worth the sacrifice thousands of families have made.
I heard he sent them out to pick up the yard signs as well. They were cheaper in Manila.

Sounds dumb at first but then when you see the company responds with dispatching a swat team armed with automatic weapons think maybe there a nerve they don't want hit? $1.78 an hour, forced over time, ant they give them access not only to customers private vital information, but as fsc, they get access into the network - that sounds really good for national security , eh?

I guess since this is a layoff board we could take a moment to reflect on the call centers that have been Verizoned over the years as their companies were absorbed.
Checking out the call center is a terrible excuse for sending a dozen people over there. If that was all they were doing they could have sent two people. It doesn't make sense that they would send 12 people over there to check out something that everyone already knows is there. And if it doesn't make sense it's BS.
Shelton needs to be replaced. Who the hell does he think he is pulling crap like that with 40,000 people on strike and not receiving income or having any health benefits???
Everyone in the world knows there are 2 call centers in the Philipines, 3 in India, 1 in Mexico, and 1 in Canada that are outsourced to contracting companies. They have been there for over 5 years and they spend this money grandstanding to investigate something everyone already knew. All they did is waste money that could be better spent on benefits for their members. They are lucky they did not get shot with all the political unrest going on there. Next we are going to get a report they sent people to India and found a call center in that country. Vz leadership may be scummy, but these guys are idiots. They did exactly what Lowell wanted, they led their members out the door, no salary, no benefits, and no solution in the near future.
