Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Verizon, a non American company. How do you slap the faces of the people that support your business, and throw them to the curb.

Provide poor quality service and don't care .

Verizon sells its product to American's yet doesn't support them. It's treasonous.

No one owes you anything. You make your own way in this country. You make choices that lead to consequences. If you make good choices, they are usually positive consequences. You do drugs, get a girl knocked up, fail to maximize your education, or any other number of career limiting decisions, you get negative consequences. You join a union, then you get protected from failure while missing out on the best advantages of success. There are those of us who choose to make our own way. We don't depend on corrupt union bosses nor do we follow them like sheep. We realize that our career is our own to make. If a union will help me get there, then fine. But the union is not the end all. It exists for us and not the other way around. So when it stops serving me, it is gone.

Cooies? So now we can add racism to the list of CWA member sins!

I am amazed at the posts of all of these management terds. Most managers with any length of service know that the company is trying to screw the unions like they screwed the managers.

This is the most anti-American company that I have ever worked for. They pay public lip service to Veterans, but crap all over them every opportunity that they can. They can't stand American workers and would rather hire coolies for $2/hour.

If this company goes down, then it will be the fault of all of the kool-aid drinking millennial libturds and their masters in the c-suite.

One day when they finally grow up and realize what they helped do this once great country. But then it will be too late and no one will feel sorry for them or their families, nor should they.

@HoCVptE-hry, you're an idiot. $2/hour is median salary in Philippines. They are being paid a normal wage for the region. Also they're contracted out, so it really doesn't matter what they're being paid since they don't work for VZ.

@own...there is a lot of muddle headed nonsense on this board, but your post has to be the most nonsensical ever....

School teachers

Fire fighters

Police

Military personnel

Road maintenance crews

Air traffic controllers

Sewer workers

I could go on and on, but if you seriously believe these types of "government" workers don't provide any value, you are seriously nuts!

@xoe, wait a second here, I'm tired of people spewing the same old garbage of "no one owes you a job"...I call B.S. and you want to know why? We were all born into an economic system that we didn't want or choose, and that economic system demands everyone to have a job in order to survive. So yes, if this system is thrusted onto me with no other alternatives to make money and survive, yes..I am owed a job. Also, if no one owes you a job or a living, then why do we owe the government tax money? Are they doing anything that gives them the excuse to steal the fruits of my labor? Do they produce anything of value? Ok then..if no one owes us a living, then no one should owe taxes since it is giving others in government a living for not producing anything.

This has nothing to do with America and all to do with greed in the union. Most of why companies look elsewhere is because of the idiot demands and greed of the union. How can they possibly compete when the company is forced to be inefficient so the union heads can look like they are doing something for the membership. I will do whatever it takes to break this stupid union's grip. I and thousands of others. I'm fine with a reasonable union that provides a win-win for company and employee. But the current arrangement is crap. Company is putting their foot down, and we are with them. 100%

I can't see how ANY American worker, union, non-union, management (hell anyone that isn't a CEO or executive) supports outsourcing of American jobs. Do you really want a standard of living reduction with limited job opportunities for you or others in this country?

"Industry turnover is high, on average about 60%, said Jose Mari P. Mercado, president of the IT & Business Process Assn. That means a typical worker who starts in January will be gone by July, a sign of how stressful and demanding the jobs can be". Sounds like a sweatshop to me. All that great pay and still can not retain workers that make the same as a freshman law grad

@HoCVptE-hry Based on the average living cost and salary in Philippines, do you think $1.78 an hour is an evidence of sweatshop? In Manila, a call center employee can make $700 a week, the average bank teller's income is only $350 a week and law school freshman only make $700 a month. Do the research first then talk about what is sweatshop dude.

@yct. Simple fact. Most Union people care more about this company than the top executives. It's them destroying this once great, proud company just to line the pockets of a few.

Talk about treason...union people more loyal to their union than to the company that pays/paid them. More loyal to the union than to the customers. More loyal to the union than to their families who depend on them. Now that is just plain wrong. With that attitude they deserve to be kicked to the curb and get a dose of reality.

Let's not forget, Verizon is yet another American corporation that engages in utilizing sweatshops around the world staffed with armed guards like a prison (surprised they don't have suicide nets). For example, those call center workers in the Phillipines making less than $2.00 per hour. Verizon should be asshamed of themselves, a billion dollar company can't pay all of their workers a living wage and engaging in sweatshop conditions. Disgusting!

nnf , That's exactly what is happening . Customers are beginning to hate Verizon so much they are going to other companies. It's ironic , you see it only one way. Look at the bigger picture.

You evidently care. You felt the need to comment. You need to call a call center. You have no clue. Long delays , poor quality of service. Just because your better smelling than the other pile of crap doesn't mean you don't smell like crap. It's terrible how Verizon doesn't see the need to support Americans.

Yawn, no one cares. Even during the strike and with all of the delays, callers to the call center say they refuse to switch to Comcast or TW, etc because VZ service is far superior.
